I Married My Husband Despite The Fact That He Never Made Me Orgasm

But here, at 25, one woman had never been able to climax by any means whatsoever. Orgasm. Ruth Bennet, writes via Cosmopolitan about how throughout her dating life, she was unable to reach orgasm no matter how hard she tried.

Determination. The more men she informed about her “problem,” the more they becomes more determined to try and help her find a solution, which resulted in sex sessions that lasted hours, but with no discernible solution.

Fixed. "I had never had an orgasm, and men thought I needed to be fixed. Women too, for that matter. Well-meaning friends would insist that I just wasn’t trying hard enough, citing their own stories as proof of how easy it was,” writes Bennett, via Cosmopolitan.

Sex toys. Bennett, even had a friend take her to an adult toy store in the hopes that a sex toy would be able to help. But even the fanciest of vibrators wasn’t going to help.

No success. "Ultimately, the large purple vibrator he selected didn't do it for me either. Oh, it was nice. I squirmed and I squealed and I ran down the batteries. But I didn't orgasm,” writes Bennett.

Advice. Bennett would even spend time scouring the internet for forums that would be able to provide her with tips on reaching that highly coveted orgasm. But reading experiences from other women only made her more self-aware of her inabilities to orgasm.

Performance. "On the bright side, I did know better than to fake it. After a bad experience with my first boyfriend, who would finger me and ask "are you close?" every 20 seconds, I realized that faking it even once would lead to the expectation of a repeat performance. It just gets tiring,” writes Bennett.

Worries. Eventually, Bennett’s quest to find an orgasm fell to the wayside, as she realized that when it came to sex, she, along with most women, had other things to worry about.

Problem. "I always enjoyed sex – really, really, enjoyed it - and if a guy didn't believe me that I liked it without an orgasm, that was his problem,” writes Bennett.

Relationship. Eventually, Bennett met the man who she’d marry. But their relationship started out like most of her relationships in the past had— by informing them of her inability to orgasm.

Speech. "Like others, I had given him my 'It's not you, it's me' orgasm speech early on. Unlike others, he didn't take it personally and didn't act like there was something wrong with me. Best of all, he was sexually confident enough to know that there was nothing wrong with him,” writes Bennett.

Making it work. Their relationship went on successfully and despite the fact that she still didn’t organs during sex, she never felt like there was anything missing in her relationship.

Good enough. "I was in my sexual prime, and I was comfortable with myself, with my body, and with my partner. And that was enough. That was just my reality, and I had finally stopped judging myself for it,” writes Bennett.

Marriage. Eventually they fell enough in love that they got married, sans orgasm. But much to her surprise, some years into her marriage, the day finally came where her orgasm arrived.

Icing. "So, was I just psyching myself out all those years? Maybe. Does sex feel better when I orgasm? A little, but it's really just the icing on the cake. Even knowing what they're like now, I still wish I didn't waste so many years agonizing over them,” writes Bennett, via Cosmopolitan.
