An announcement by Lenovo(HKG:0992) on Tuesday revealed the first Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to use the Sandy Bridge microchip of Intel which will enhance the performance of the devices aside from making them power-efficient. According to Preston Taylor of Lenovo, the combination of the Sandy Bridge microchips and the power-saving feature of Lenovo will allow the Lenovo ThinkPad laptops to maximize battery life.


The Lenovo ThinkPad T420 features a 14-inch display and can be utilized for up to fifteen hours with its nine-cell battery such as IBM ThinkPad 600 battery, IBM 02K7016 battery, IBM ThinkPad G40 battery, IBM 08K8026 battery, IBM ThinkPad T21 battery, IBM ThinkPad T20 battery, IBM ThinkPad X61 battery, IBM ThinkPad T61 battery, IBM ThinkPad X41 battery while the six-cell battery of the Lenovo ThinkPad T420S can be used for up to six hours with its 14-inch display.


The Turbo Boost feature of Intel also enhances the laptops battery life. This feature automatically shuts down inactive cores to conserve power. A number of the Lenovo ThinkPad laptops also have an anti-theft feature which is packaged with the VPro hardware which allows IT experts to control and secure laptops remotely. If the Lenovo ThinkPad is stolen, it can be immobilized remotely. The feature also allows the stolen Lenovo ThinkPad laptop to be monitored.


The latest Lenovo ThinkPad laptops will enter the market by March. These new laptops from Lenovo will multi-core processors with clocks speed that range from 2GHz up to 2.7 GHz.


The Lenovo ThinkPad T420 will have a $1,029 price while the Lenovo ThinkPad T420 is at $1,399. The 15-inch T520 has a price of $999. These laptops have a RAM of up to 8GB and a hard drive of up to 320GB.
