Dell Studio 14z Laptop PC

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Dell's Studio 14z is a valiant attempt at making a more compact 14-inch laptop computer systems. It certainly is affordable in the low configurations but the system just has to sacrifice too many features for its reduced size. Removal of items such as the DVD burner and a multi-format card reader really reduce the potential uses of the system. With the tested price of $850, just a little more money can get the users a bit more in terms of performance and features in a 13-inch laptop that is more portable.

Dell's Studio 14z is their latest entry into the thin laptop market with a much thinner overall profile than their previous consumer 14-inch laptops such as the Inspiron 14. They were able to keep the thickness down the 1.2-inches which provides the system with a very slim profile and keep the weight down compared to many other 14-inch laptops. They had to make a number of sacrifices in features to do this however that I will touch on later.

In terms of performance, the Studio 14z does fairly well thanks to the Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 dual core processor. The system comes with a somewhat unusual 3GB DDR3 memory configuration that can be upgraded to 5GB. This is because the system uses a single DIMM slot and has 1GB built-in. A bit disappointing when many new DDR3 systems can potentially be upgraded to 8GB.

What will disappoint many is the storage features. Dell has sacrificed an internal DVD burner and built-in memory card reader in order to keep the size and cost of the Studio 14z down. Users do have the option of purchasing both of these as upgrades when ordering the system but it adds to the cost and the weight of the system if they are carried frequently.

Graphics have also suffered somewhat on the Studio 14z. Rather than using a dedicated graphics processor, Dell has elected to use the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M integrated graphics. This is one of the better integrated solutions that provides enough performance for light gaming and high definition video playback but it does limit the system's potential compared to larger systems with dedicated options. At least the 14-inch LED backlit display is one of the better on the market with a good level of color and wide viewing angles.

Dell claims that the Studio 14z can achieve over six hours of battery life with the 8-cell battery like dell Latitude X300 battery, dell W0465 battery, dell Inspiron 2000 battery, dell Latitude LS battery, dell 2834T battery, dell 4834T battery, dell Inspiron 1520 battery, dell Inspiron 1521 battery, Dell Inspiron 1720 battery, dell Inspiron 1525 battery, dell Inspiron 1526 battery. Most of the configurations come with the 6-cell battery which means that it won't last that long. Video playback through an external DVD player or video streaming will net the system just under four hours of running time. Typical usage will provide closer to four and a half to five hours. This is still above the average for most 14-inch laptops.

Consumers have a wide variety of customization options on the Studio 14z which allow users to upgrade the processor, memory, hard drive, display, external optical drives, wireless networking and even the color. The downside is that some of these upgrades are almost mandatory increasing the cost of the Studio 14z. With an external DVD and card reader, the price climes to near $900 which places it only slightly lower than an Apple MacBook that offers more performance in a smaller package. Because of this, it is much better suited as a low cost, highly portable system for those that don't need high speed wireless, built-in card reader or DVD drive.

Dell Studio 1558

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

With a street price of $900, the Dell Studio 1558 offers a very compelling laptop package. Performance and battery life are good but the design still retains the same Studio 15 chassis that has been used for some time. Many of the best features Dell offers such as the WLED displays are optional which can raise the price up. Still, it is a good basic system for those wanting a solid performing system with some upgraded but not gaming caliber graphics.

Dell's Studio 15 has been through a large number of revisions with very little external change. The Studio 1558 updates the internals of the laptop to use the new Core i3 and i5 processors over the previous Core 2 models. In the case of the high end unit, it comes equipped with the Core i5-520M dual core model that actually provides some surprising levels of performance with its 4GB of memory. If you aren't using a large number of processor intensive tasks, the processor is actually on par with the more expensive quad core CPU.

The Studio 1558 has a number of hard drive options. Ironically, the most expensive base configuration uses a smaller 320GB hard drive compared to some other versions that feature a 500GB drive. Both versions spin at a desktop 7200rpm rate for increased performance. Those wanting a bit more storage space can elect to get a 640GB drive that spins at a slower 5400rpm rate. A dual layer DVD burner handles all playback and recording of CDs and DVDs.

The Dell Studio 1558 uses the same 15.6-inch LED backlit panel that it has been using for some time. Color representation and brightness are quite good but viewing angles can be problematic on the vertical plane. The 1366x768 resolution is fairly typical of what is seen in this price range. Users can elect to get an optional high-brightness or WLED panel as well as a higher resolution panel. Those working in graphics will probably want the WLED panel for its higher color gamut. All versions still carry a glossy coating that makes it difficult to use in outdoor lighting.

What sets this version of the Dell Studio 1558 apart from the other models is the graphics processor. Most version use the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated solution that is fine for most basic graphics work and high definition video playback. This model comes with an ATI Radeon HD 4570 mobile graphics processor with 512MB of memory. It provides sufficient performance for casual 3D gaming but falls short of what many gamers might want out of a laptop. It is an older generation version that does not support Direct X 11 though.

Unlike many other low cost 15-inch laptops, the Dell Studio 1558 comes with a nine cell battery such as dell GD761 battery, dell KD476 battery, dell TD347 battery, dell Inspiron 1000 battery, dell Inspiron 2200 battery, dell 312-0292 battery, dell INSPIRON 2600 battery, dell INSPIRON 2650 battery, dell 1G222 battery, dell BAT3151L8 battery. This allows the system to run a bit longer than average in my DVD playback tests. It was able to manage just under two and three-quarter hours before going into standby mode. This would translate to roughly three to three and a half hours of more typical usage. This is good compared to similarly priced laptops that feature six cell packs but is more average for nine-cell models.

Probably the best aspect of the Dell Studio 1558 is the pricing. Originally priced around $1250, it is possible to get the system now for just $899. That makes the features and price very compelling against the competition if you don't mind a fairly dated design.

Dell Inspiron 1501 Budget Notebook

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Dell's Inspiron 1501 budget notebook isn't necessarily a bad system, it just doesn't measure up to the E1505 model also sold by Dell for roughly the same price range.

Pros

•Less Expensive

•Fairly Quiet Operation

•Long Life Battery like dell YD626 battery, dell 312-0393 battery, dell Latitude D800 battery, dell Inspiron 8500 battery, dell 8N544 battery, dell Inspiron 8600 battery, Dell Precision M60 battery, dell Inspiron 6400 battery, dell Inspiron E1505 battery, dell Inspiron 1501 battery

Cons

•Not As Fast As Core Duo Based Notebooks

•Limited Multimedia Features With Vista Basic

•Media Features Onlys Accessible From OS, Unlike E Series Dell's

Description

•AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-50 Dual Core Mobile Processor

•1GB PC2-4200 DDR2 Memory

•80GB 5400rpm Hard Drive

•8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner

•15.4" WXGA (1280x800) LCD and ATI Radeon XPress 1150 Integrated Graphics

•v.92 56Kbps Modem, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g Wireless

•Four USB 2.0, ExpressCard/54, 3-in-1 Card Reader

•14" x 10.5" x 1.4" @ 6.2 lbs.

•Vista Home Basic, MS Works, McAfee Security Center

The Inspiron 1501 marks the first use of the AMD mobile processors in a Dell notebook computer. Rather than the traditional Core Duo processor, the 1501 is available with either the Sempron, Turion 64 or Turion 64 X2 processors. For this unit, it had the Turion 64 X2 TL-50 dual core processor. While this does improve the multitasking performance, the overall performance is still below the Core 2 Duo's from Intel.

The main choice for the AMD processors over Intel was to reduce the costs of the system. This does make the 1501 less expensive than the E1505 models, but there are some significant changes that will impact users. To reduce costs, Dell has removed features and software that one would expect to find in their Intel based notebooks.

The model number does not contain the entertainment designation like the E1505 because the 1501 lacks the Media Direct software. This means that playing back a DVD movie or a CD will require that the notebook be booted up into the operating system to have them function. This puts a greater draw on the power of the notebook than if it could play it directly. It also leads to the next problem.

Most notebooks come equipped with the Vista Home Premium operating system, but the 1501 instead ships with Vista Home Basic. This removes many of the multimedia features and some of the big draws such as the Aero graphical interface. Users can upgrade, but it increases the cost of the system.

The overall result is that the Inspiron 1501 may be less expensive, but for just a little more, users can get a lot more in terms of features from the Inspiron E1505 notebooks.

Dell XPS M1210

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If you don't mind carrying a little more weight that other full featured ultraportables, Dell's XPS M1210 provides very strong performance with excellent features. It would still be nice to see Dell offer a bit more on the base configurations.

Pros

•Large Hard Drive

•Strong Performance

•Optional Cellular Modems

•Integrated Webcam

Cons

•DVD Burner Not Standard

•Pretty Heavy for an Ultraportable

Description

•Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 Dual Core Mobile Processor

•1GB PC2-5300 DDR2 Memory

•120GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

•24x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive

•12.1" WXGA (1280x800) LCD and Intel GMA 950 Integrated Graphics with 1.3MP Webcam

•v.92 56Kbps Modem, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11a/b/g Wireless

•Optional Sprint, Verizon or Cingular Wireless Modem

•Four USB 2.0, One FireWire, ExpressCard/54, Type II PC Card and 5-in-1 Card Reader

•11.7" x 8.7" x 1.2" @ 4.4 lbs.

•Vista Home Premium, MS Works and Norton Internet Security

While the Dell XPS M1210 notebook has the dimensions of an ultraportable notebook, it weighs a bit more than the average ultraportable of similar dimensions. This is likely due to the number of features they pack into the system and the solid magnesium alloy shell that they use to protect it.

Most ultraportables sacrifice some performance in order to reduce the size and increase the life of battery such as dell Latitude D620 battery, dell 312-0386 battery, dell PC764 battery, dell TD175 battery, dell Precision M65 battery, dell DF230 battery, dell Latitude D531 battery, dell Latitude D820 battery, dell Latitude D830 battery, dell MM165 battery. The XPS M1210 is designed as a performance notebook and as such it has some features that set it apart. It is based around the Intel Core 2 Duo 64-bit processors rather than on the low voltage 32-bit Core Duos. This gives it an edge in terms of performance but it does increase its power draw as well. The 1GB of PC2-5300 DDR2 memory helps keep this notebook running smoothly and its necessary for the Vista Home Premium OS Dell has installed.

Storage is mixed for the XPS M1210. While the hard drive provides a very large 120GB of storage space rarely seen in an ultraportable, Dell elects to offer a 24x CD-RW/DVD combo drive rather than a full blown DVD burner. Since it is an internal unit, that does set it above many other ultraportables, but those that do integrate a drive tend to come with the DVD burner standard.

Another feature that is optional but great for the business traveler is the cellular modems. Most companies offer a unit that will only work with a single cell phone provider. Dell offers modems from Sprint, Cingular and Verizon that provides more options for the consumers in selecting a cellular service provider.

Dell Inspiron M5030 Laptop

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Dell's Inspiron M5030 laptop isn't going to be standing out against the competition in terms of performance or features, but it certainly is affordable. With street pricing around $500, it is roughly $100 cheaper than many Intel based PCs with a similar level of features and performance. The downside is that it is heavier than most of the competition and doesn't have the same level of quality feel.

Pros

•Very Affordable

•Competitive Level of Performance To Intel Based Laptops

Cons

•Heavier Than Most 15-inch Budget Laptops

•Lots Of Preinstalled Software That Slow Down The System

•Plastic Feels Quite Cheap

Description

•AMD Athlon II X2 P360 Dual Core Mobile Processor

•4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 Memory

•500GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

•8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner

•15.6" WXGA (1366x768) LED Backlit Display With VGA Webcam

•AMD Radeon HD 4350 Integrated Graphics

•Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless

•Three USB 2.0, HDMI, VGA, 3-in-1 Card Reader

•14.7" x 9.6" x 1.5" @ 6 lbs.

•Windows 7 Home Premium, Office Starter

While many budget laptops now sport Intel Core i3 processors, most previously used the AMD mobile processors because they were more affordable. Dell is one of the companies that still offers AMD based laptops with the Inspiron M5030. It uses the AMD Athlon II X2 P360 dual core processor. This gives a fairly competitive level of performance to the Core i3 models but it does trail behind more recent Intel Core i3 offers such as the 380M. The 4GB of DDR3 memory is typical of most new laptops but it doesn't help too much with multitasking because Dell has preloaded so much software that it does impact performance. Users will really want to clean up the installed software to try and correct this issue.

The storage features for the Inspiron M5030 are pretty much exactly what you will find in just about every budget class laptop priced between $500 and $600. The 500GB hard drive provides it with a fair amount of space for applications, data and media files. It spins at the more traditional 5400rpm rate which gives it modest performance. A dual layer DVD burner is included to handle playback or recording of CD and DVD media. Finally, a 3-in-1 card reader handles the most popular forms of flash media.

The graphics and the display of the Inspiron M5030 are certainly nothing special for a budget class laptop. The 15.6-inch screen provides a relatively standard 1366x768 resolution that also has a glossy coating. Color and brightness are acceptable but the viewing angles are a bit narrow. It is hard to use it outdoors because of the glossy coating that produces a fair amount of glare and reflections. The graphics are handled by an AMD Radoen HD 4350 integrated graphics processor. This is a bit better than Intel's integrated solutions but it still has very limited 3D performance that can only really be used for casual gaming at low resolutions and detail levels.

Like most budget classed laptops, the Inspiron M5030 comes with a six cell battery such as dell 312-0068 battery, dell 6Y270 battery, dell C1295 battery, dell Inspiron 1100 battery, dell Inspiron 5100 battery, dell 6T473 battery, dell Inspiron 630m battery, dell Inspiron 640m battery, dell Y9943 battery, dell RC107 battery that is rated with a 48Whr capacity. In DVD playback testing, the system only yielded just over two hours or running time before going into standby mode. This is slightly behind what many Intel Core i3 based systems can achieve with a similarly capacity battery pack. This isn't necessarily a bad thing considering its price but something that buyer's should be aware of.

Finally, we come to the size and build quality of the Inspiron M5030. Weighing in at six pounds, the laptop is a bit heavier than many other 15-inch laptops that tend to weigh around 5.5 pounds. one would assume this would come from a sturdier set of materials but it uses a standard plastic shell that while functional feels quick cheap.

Toshiba Portege R200

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Toshiba Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Toshiba's Portege R200 provides a lot of security features that would be well suited for those concerned about data security but need a highly portable computer for travelling.

Pros

•Larger LCD Screen

•Integrated Security

•Gigabit Ethernet

Cons

•No CD/DVD Drive Included

•Expensive

Description

•Intel Pentium M 753 (1.2GHz) Ultra Low Voltage Processor

•512MB PC3200 DDR Memory

•60GB 4,200rpm 1.8" Hard Drive

•12.1" XGA LCD Screen with Intel GMA 900 Integrated Graphics

•AD1918B AC'97 Audio

•v.92 56Kbps Modem, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11b/g Wireless

•Two USB 2.0 Ports, SD Slot and One Type II PC Card Slot

•11.3" x 9" x .8" @ 2.7 lbs.

•Windows XP Professional, MS Works 8, RecordNow, Norton Anti-Virus

Data security is a very important issue for business personnel especially when notebook thefts are on the rise. Toshiba is trying to address this issue with a host of security features added to its new Portege R200 ultraportable.

In order to facilitate the security of the data on the R200, the system features a Trusted Platform Module and a fingerprint reader. With both of these implemented, the system can be setup to only allow access to the system and data through people registered to use the system via the fingerprint scanner.

Powering the Portege R200 is the Intel Pentium M 752 (1.2GHz) ultra low voltage processor. This power saving processor provides a good amount of battery like Toshiba Satellite A70 Battery, Toshiba Satellite A75 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 8000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 8100 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9000 Battery, Toshiba Tecra 9100 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 1900 Battery, Toshiba Satellite A60-662 Battery, Toshiba Satellite A65 Battery, Toshiba Satellite 2100 Battery while still providing enough processing power to run office applications. This is matched up with 512MB of PC3200 DDR memory.

Storage is a bit disappointing as the R200 still does not come with an internal optical drive. A separate external drive can be purchased to add this ability but it also adds weight and bulk. The hard drive is a smaller 1.8” drive that Toshiba specializes in building and comes with a fairly large 60GB storage capacity.

The 12.1” LCD screen is much larger than the average ultraportable notebook computer and is a welcome feature for those people who have limited eyesight. This increased size also allows for a keyboard that is more accurate to a full sized keyboard compared to the smaller keys on other ultraportables.

Sony VAIO VPC-EE23FX/BI

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Sony's VAIO EE23FX/BI laptop may be affordable but it doesn't really set itself apart from the competition in terms of features, performance or price. Instead, the system really comes down to design and function. The keyboard is very well made and a joy to type on and the system runs very quiet with little in terms of heat. The downside is that the exterior case shows many fingerprints and the glittered palmrest looks like a child dropped some craft materials on it.

Pros

•Laptop Is Very Quite And Cool

•Comfortable Full Sized Keyboard With Numeric Pad

Cons

•Glossy Case Attracts Lots Of Fingerprints

•Glitter Pattern Palmrest Looks Cheap

Description

•AMD Athlon II P320 Dual Core Mobile Processor

•4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 Memory

•320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

•8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner

•15.5" WXGA (1366x768) LED Backlit Display With VGA Webcam

•ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Integrated Graphics

•Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless

•Four USB 2.0, HDMI, VGA, SD Card Slot, Memory Stick Card Slot

•14.6" x 9.8" x 1.5" @ 5.9 lbs.

•Windows 7 Home Premium

Sony has decided to mix things up with the VAIO EE series laptops by switching away from the Intel processors to use the more affordable AMD chips. In the case of the EE23FX, it uses the AMD Athlon II P320 dual core processor. For may people, this processor will provide enough performance but it does fall short of the Intel Core i3 in most tasks. The 4GB of DDR3 memory help it avoid too many slowdowns from multitasking or memory intensive programs.

Storage features on the VAIO EE are pretty much in line with just about every other budget laptop on the market. It comes with a 320GB hard drive that provides a decent amount of storage space for applications, data and media files. It spins at the traditional 5400rpm rate which gives it modest performance. A standard dual layer DVD burner handles all playback and recording of CDs or DVDs. The front of the laptop features slots for the very common SD media card type and the lesser Sony Memory Stick.

The display on the Sony VAIO EE uses a 15.5-inch panel that features a standard 1366x768 native resolution. It also comes with a glossy coating that is common to the consumer laptop market which produces a fair amount of glare and reflections under certain lighting conditions. Powering the graphics is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics solution. This is a step up from the Intel integrated graphics solutions particularly for 3D graphics performance. It is still very limited compared to a dedicated solution and can only really be used for casual 3D gaming at very low resolution and detail levels.

Like many other budget laptops, the VAIO EE series uses a six cell battery pack that the company calls the standard capacity battery such as Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery. In DVD playback testing, the laptop is able to run for roughly two and half hours before going into standby mode. More traditional usage should yield about another hour for three and a half hours of use. This falls in line with many other laptops in the $650 price range.

The design of the Sony VAIO EE is going to be love or hate for most people. The black casing is very glossy. While many companies have gone to textured design to hide prints, the Sony design lacks this so it turns into a fingerprint magnet that requires a large amount of cleaning. The interior palmrest area does differ by adding in some glitter particles. This unfortunately actually makes the laptop look less sophisticated.

One nice aspect of the Sony VAIO EE is the keyboard design. It uses the isolated key layout common to many other models that provides it with a very comfortable and accurate design that is a pleasure to type on. The laptop also features a full sized numeric keypad which is very useful for those that need to do a lot of number input.

Dell Inspiron 9300

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Dell's Inspiron 9300 is a very strong desktop replacement that features a number of upgrades to provide improved performance without the cost of their top of the line XPS Gen 2 notebook.

Pros

•Good Warranty Options

•High-Speed DDR2 Memory

•Capable 3D Graphics

Cons

•9-Cell Battery Extra

•Improved Graphics Require Upgrade

•Software Extra

Description

•Intel Pentium M 730 (1.6GHz) Processor

•512MB PC2-4200 DDR2 Memory (2GB Maximum)

•60GB 4,200rpm Hard Drive

•8x DVD+/-RW DL Burner

•17" WXGA+ (1440x900) Display and ATI Mobility X600 Graphics with 64MB Memory

•AC'97 Audio

•v.92 56Kbps Modem, 10/100 Ethernet and 802.11b/g Wireless

•Six USB 2.0 Ports, One FireWire, SD Card Slot and One Type II PC Card Slot

•15.5" x 11.3" x 1.6" @ 7.9 lbs.

•Windows XP Home, Word Perfect, Norton Internet Security

Dell's Inspiron 9300 is based around the Intel Pentium M processor. It starts with a base of the Pentium M 730, a decent 1.6Ghz processor but not the fastest available. This is matched up with 512MB of PC2-4200 to take advantage of the faster 533MHz bus speed of the latest versions. Battery life is pretty good even with the 6-cell battery such as dell Inspiron 8100 battery, dell Inspiron 4000 battery, dell Inspiron 4100 battery, dell Inspiron 2500 battery, dell Latitude CPX battery, dell Latitude C600 battery, dell Latitude C610 battery, dell Latitude C640 battery, dell 1691P battery, Dell 1K500 battery, Dell 8M815 battery, Dell 851UY battery, but it would be nice to see them include the 9-cell standard.

Storage on the base Inspiron 9300 is fairly standard. A 60GB 4200rpm hard drive provides adequate storage even if it isn't the best for performance. An option is available to upgrade to a larger 100GB 5400rpm drive. Also included is a 8x DVD+/-RW dual-layer burner to allow it to work with most of the popular media currently available.

Graphics is an area where the Dell Inspiron 9300 is somewhat mixed. The base ATI Mobility X300 does do a fairly decent job at basic 3D Graphics but it is severely limited by the 64MB of memory. Those wishing to use 3D graphics would be advised to upgrade to the X600 or GeForce 6800 processors.

Dell offers very good support options with the Inspiron 9300. While the least expensive package has limited support options, the recommended packages include a 2 to 3 year in home service package. The only downside to this is weekend and night support does cost extra.

Overall, the Dell 9300 is a good overall package. This becomes even more apparent when comparing it to the much more expensive XPS Gen 2.

Review - HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition Series Laptop PC

HP is typically known for business-class and consumer notebooks but as their laptop line has grown so have the available uses. The HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition is Sandy Bridge notebook PC with a dedicated graphics card that handles its own in gaming situations.

For starters, the HP Pavilion dv7t features a 17.3-inch BrightView LED display with a max resolution of 1600x900. Although this isn't full HD 1080p resolution, it is a decent value for the price. Where the HP Pavilion dv7t does shine is in processing power. The dv7t is equipped with a new Intel 2nd Generation Sandy Bridge processor. The base configuration contains an Intel Core i7-2630QM with 6MB of L3 cache and a max Turbo speed of 2.9GHz. This CPU is nice and fast in a variety of settings, including work in Office applications.

It is worth noting that the list price of the HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition is $1,249.99. But HP often offers instant incentives and free upgrades. At the time of publication, the dv7t qualifies for a $150 instant rebate bringing the price to $1099.99. For just under $1,100 you get the quad-core processor referenced above, as well as 4GB of DDR3 memory standard (although this notebook qualifies for a free upgrade to 6GB as of the date of this review). For $60 more, an upgrade from 6GB to 8GB is available which is definitely worth considering to make the laptop future-proof. And $60 is a reasonable price for the upgrade.

But what gamers really want to know is - how does the graphics card perform? The HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition features a 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6570M video card. Although this card isn't a benchmark buster, it does allow you to tap into the latest games including DirectX 11 titles. However, don't expect to play at high settings as this card is an economical component geared for casual gamers on everyday computers. It's best suited for those looking for a laptop that can be used for both work and light gaming.

Along with gaming, the HP Pavilin dv7t Quad Edition Series notebook also serves as a great multimedia machine with a Blu-ray drive. Although this option isn't standard, it is currently a free upgrade. Since the display offers above average resolution, Blu-ray movies look good on the screen.

The rest of the components are average for a notebook in this price range. The base 640GB hard drive is fast with an ample amount of storage space even though HP has a free incentive going on an upgrade to the 750GB drive.

Unfortunately, battery life on a 17-inch notebook isn't great especially with a 6-cell battery. But as gamers know, gaming on battery is rarely ideal. You can also upgrade the battery to a 9-cell model but beware it is oversized.

Overall, the HP Pavilion dv7t Quad Edition is a decent value for hybrid gamers (i.e. those who want to work and play on a laptop). The fast Sandy Bridge Core i7 processor, dedicated graphics card, and display are on par for the price. Pair it with free upgrades and the potential for a great discount via an HP coupon and you have a laptop that can go to a business meeting or play a DirectX 11 game in the airport.

Dell XPS 15 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop PC

Recently, Dell unveiled three new XPS laptops. The first laptop to be reviewed was the Dell XPS 17. Today, we're looking at the Dell XPS 15 for gamers who require mobility at an affordable price. The Dell XPS 15 is equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory, and NVIDIA GT 420M graphics. The audio quality is exceptional on this laptop, gameplay is adequate, but battery life is disappointing with the base 6-cell battery like Dell RD859 Battery, Dell PR002 Battery, Dell UD260 Battery, Dell PD942 Battery, Dell Latitude 131L Battery, Dell 8F871 Battery, Dell 2G218 Battery, Dell Winbook N4 Battery, Dell F0590A01 Battery, Dell 7T670 Battery. Overall, if you're on a budget, this notebook will get you gaming with medium settings. If you're an avid gamer, though, the larger Dell XPS 17 is worth considering.

Review - Dell XPS 15 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop PC

Starting at $850, the Dell XPS 15 features a 720p 15.6-inch WLED display. Although this is a bit inferior to rival laptops equipped with full HD screens, there is an option to upgrade to a full 1080p display with facial recognition for $130 more. The exterior casing is made of silver anodized aluminum, and the interior features black palm rests and a black backlit keyboard. It is on the heavy side, though, weighing in at 6.14 pounds with the 6-cell battery.

Like most other pre-built systems, the Dell XPS 15 comes with Windows 7 Home Premium. The base system features an Intel Core i5-460M that runs at 2.53GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz. This is adequate for mainstream gaming. Since the Dell XPS 15 is fully customizable, there is an option to upgrade to a Core i7, but the price tag is steep at $500.

Although an upgrade from the base NVIDIA GT 420M video card to the NVIDIA GeForce GT 435M 2GB graphics card would normally be recommended, it does require an upgrade to an Intel Core i7 quad-core processor as well. If you have the budget, it's fine, but many mainstream gamers do not. The NVIDIA GT 420M-based Dell XPS 15 can still be used with medium settings in the latest games, since it's a newly released graphics card with 96 shaders and a 128-bit memory interface. The NVIDIA GT 420M also offers Optimus technology.

Along with NVIDIA graphics, the Dell XPS 15 comes standard with 4GB of dual channel DDR3 memory. This is an average amount of memory for a laptop in this price range, but more memory is definitely a good thing to make it future-proof.

Luckily, storage is more than adequate with a base 500GB 7200rpm hard drive that offers decent speed with ample space. A solid state drive is available as a $550 option, but it's not worth the price unless you travel incessantly. Although load times of games improve with an SSD, that's about it. It won't give you any marked improvement once in the game.

The Dell XPS 15 gaming laptop also comes equipped with a 56 WHr 6-cell battery which makes battery life disappointing. If you want to game on the go, be sure to bring the AC adapter on any prolonged journey. What really stands out is the sound quality. Boasting JBL 2.1 built-in speakers, the Dell XPS 15 offers better audio than many other laptops in this price range. Since this laptop is geared for multimedia, though, it would be nice if a Blu-ray drive was standard. It's easy to overlook this issue, though, since the Dell XPS is priced aggressively.

Overall, the Dell XPS 15 is a decent 15.6-inch machine for the budget-conscious gamer. It offers flexible options, a fast hard drive, and 720p screen. Although gameplay is a bit cramped on any 15-inch notebook, the Dell XPS 15 is easy to tote around for on-the-go gaming. For gamers looking for smooth gameplay in a desktop replacement, though, check out the Dell XPS 17 or ASUS G73 Series.

Compaq Presario V2000

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If you're considering a wide-screen laptop for travel, the Compaq Presario V2000 belongs at the top of your list. At just 6.1 pounds (not including the AC adapter), this compact unit is easier to carry than many competing wide-screen notebooks. Its 14.1-inch BrightView screen, an inch shorter than a standard 14.1-inch screen, should clear an airline seat back much more easily.

Be sure to shell out the extra $25 for the V2000's optional 12-cell battery like compaq Presario M2000 battery(compaq m2000 battery), Hp 367759-001 battery, Compaq Presario V2000 battery(compaq v2000 battery), Hp pavillion zx5000 battery(Hp zx5000 battery), Hp PP2200 battery, Hp Pavilion dv2000 battery(Hp dv2000 battery). It lasted 5.8 hours in our tests--long enough to see you through a coast-to-coast flight, a short layover, and maybe even the taxi ride to the hotel. (We didn't test the standard 6-cell battery.)

The V2000's bright WXGA screen is top-of-the-line. With a native resolution of 1280 by 768 pixels, it displays icons that are big enough to read easily while giving you an extra inch of width (it's as wide as a standard 15-inch screen). You'll still have to do some adjusting and scrolling in order to view two detailed windows side-by-side, but you'll see considerably more of your spreadsheets or graphics applications and their palettes on this relatively small laptop.

The keyboard is perfect, with responsive keys that depress just the right amount and hardly make a sound. The underpinnings feel firm, and the layout is roomy. A lock button for the touchpad prevents the cursor from wandering as you type, and the tall rear battery forms a foot that provides a nice slant to the keyboard. The rest of the laptop is just as impressive, with a DVD burner (in our review configuration), a FireWire port, and three USB 2.0 spread out along the right side, along with a six-in-one card reader to take care of all your data exchange needs with PDAs, cameras, and other devices. The front-mounted speakers sound surprisingly loud and realistic, with volume buttons positioned at the top of the keyboard.

Plenty of sensibly located icons ensure that you won't get lost navigating the V2000's features. Icons conveniently situated around the keyboard (and in easy view on top of the case) mark side connections. Protected by grooved black panels held in by a couple of screws, the memory and hard drive compartments on the bottom of the laptop are clearly identified, too. Status lights appear on the front, where they're easy to monitor; the Wi-Fi LED glows the same pleasing blue as the Wi-Fi switch at the top of the keyboard.

When you're not on the road, the V2000 makes an excellent desktop replacement when united with HP's optional Xb2000 expansion base. The base, which serves as a port replicator and notebook stand, comes with built-in, subwoofer-enhanced Harman/Kardon speakers that rock even harder than the notebook's built-in speakers. The base also houses an internal bay that can accommodate a big (160GB) second hard drive, giving you a total of 260GB of storage if you opt for a 100GB primary hard drive. The $299 Xb2000 base includes a wireless mouse and keyboard, too.

When equipped with a 1.8-GHz Pentium M 745 processor, the V2000 zips along at a creditable clip; it earned a WorldBench 5 score of 75 in our tests--a statistically insignificant 2 points behind the mark posted by a similarly configured IBM ThinkPad T42.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony Digital Camera Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If you're looking for fun in-camera extras and editing tools in a point-and-shoot digital camera, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 is a great option. A wide-angle lens, a sharp 3-inch LCD screen, and a 720p HD movie mode also add to its overall appeal, but we have seen better image quality from similarly priced cameras in 2009.

The 12-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-W290 ($250 as of 7/10/2009) has a 5X optical-zoom Carl Zeiss lens, starting at 28mm on the wide-angle end to 140mm on the telephoto end. It's a bit thicker than many competing point-and-shoots, but still pocketable: about 4 inches wide, 2.5 inches high, and an inch deep.

Overall image quality was rated as Good, according to PC World Test Center jury evaluations. The W290 fared well in terms of overall exposure in our tests, but image sharpness and distortion were shortcomings. The identically priced Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25, for example, outscored this Sony in most imaging categories.

In informal hands-on tests, I found that the W290 takes good high-ISO shots in low light, although noise is visible at ISO 3200 and ISO 1600--not enough to ruin the shots, however. The W290 also takes about a second or more to save photos at high-ISO, low-light settings. During hands-on tests, it also became evident that the Cyber-shot W290's optical image stabilization is effective with a small level of shake, but struggled to take a sharp image when the camera was shaken more vigorously.

The W290 has only ten scene modes, which is a low count compared with competitors in its price range, but that also means it's bloat-free: You get all the essential and often-used modes, such as high ISO, Landscape, Snow, Fireworks, and Soft Focus.

As usual with Sony cameras, the camera settings are easily accessible via a mode dial on the back, and the user interface is helped by the excellent and intuitive on-screen menus. What's more, this model has a dedicated "Smile Shutter" button on the top of the camera (next to the shutter button); this lets you quickly turn on the camera's smile-triggered shutter feature. Smile Shutter automatically takes a picture once the subject smiles, and you can even adjust the sensitivity of the smile trigger in the camera.

The smile-triggered shutter is pretty commonplace among point-and-shoots these days, but a few features in the W290 set it apart from other pocket cameras. First and foremost is the range of creative image-editing features you get in this camera. Instead of applying "live" effects to your photos, many of these features can be applied after you take your shots: You can add fish-eye effects, radial blur, or red-eye correction; isolate one color in your photos while turning the rest of the image black and white; and apply a "retro" effect that mimics a pinhole camera.

But by far the weirdest--and the most fun--in-camera feature is the "Happy Faces" mode, which lets you add a fake smile to underwhelmed photo subjects. You can see for yourself how the "Happy Faces" mode can put a smile on the face of the Mona Lisa and on a serious-looking Barack Obama.

The advantage to adding these effects after your shots are taken is that you preserve the original image; cameras such as Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FS25 and Canon's PowerShot SD780 IS have pinhole-camera simulators and color-isolation modes, respectively, but both cameras apply those effects to the source image as it's being shot.

Battery life is a huge plus: the Cyber-shot DSC-W290 fired off 342 shots on a single charge of its lithium ion battery like sony NP-F550 battery, sony NP-FR1 battery, sony NP-FM50 battery, sony NP-FM51 battery, sony NP-F10 battery, sony NP-FE1 battery, sony DSC-T7 battery, good enough for a PC World Test Center score of Very Good. Unfortunately, you need to remove the battery from the camera to charge it; the camera comes with a plug-in battery charger.

The button layout is straight-forward: On top of the camera are the power button, the shutter button, and the Smile Shutter button. On the back, next to the big and clear 3-inch LCD, are the zoom toggle, the mode dial, the playback button, and a four-way directional pad for menu navigation (doubling as one-touch access to the flash settings, macro mode, self timer, and display settings), as well as a menu button and a delete button. One lack: The camera has no optical viewfinder.

On the bottom of the camera is the A/V-out port for transferring photos and movies to your PC; unfortunately, it's a proprietary connector on the camera's side of things, so you can't swap in a mini-USB or micro-USB cable for that task. Another downside is the plastic battery door on the bottom of the camera--it feels as if it could snap off way too easily. Besides the battery itself, this compartment holds another proprietary item: a Memory Stick storage slot. (You don't get a Memory Stick card with the camera.)

In addition to the scene modes, four top-level shooting modes are also accessible from the mode dial. Easy Auto Mode automatically optimizes in-camera settings for a scene and hides all the more-complicated settings from the shooter. Intelligent Auto Mode combines automatic scene optimization, optical stabilization, and face detection. Program Mode lets you adjust white balance, exposure compensation, dynamic range settings, ISO levels, and metering options; however, you don't get anything in the way of shutter and aperture controls, but that's common in a camera of this price and size. Lastly, Movie Mode lets you shoot 720p high-definition clips or 640-by-480 standard-definition clips, both as MPEG-4 files at 30 frames per second. You can't use the zoom in movie mode, which is common in point-and-shoots.

The Cyber-shot W290 may not have the sharpest image quality in its price range, but casual photographers looking for a big display, ease of use, and good battery life will likely be pleased with it. Those looking for fun in-camera features and editing tools will be delighted.

Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Canon Digital Camera Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If the idea of an almost-all-touchscreen camera appeals to you, the Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS ($299 as of May 25, 2011) is one of the best point-and-shoot options in that class. But it's becoming clear that touchscreen-operated cameras are a significantly different beast than traditional cameras with similar specs. Because of its touchscreen, this camera acts more like a phone than a more-traditional camera, and that brings its fair share of pros and cons.

The touch interface is well-implemented--the Auto mode and scene presets operate smoothly. However, the touch interface also has aperture- and shutter-priority modes (but no full manual controls), and adjusting settings in those modes isn't as hitch-free as it is when using analog controls. What's more, we've seen better touch-focus controls and options in competing cameras.

All the fancy touchscreen features also come at the expense of the camera's battery such as canon NB-1L battery, canon NB-2L battery, canon BP-511 battery, canon NB-5L battery, canon NB-4L battery, canon NB-5H battery life, which is lacking. But beyond these shortcomings, this is a great little camera in terms of performance. Image and video quality are both strong suits, and the model's F2.0 lens and creative shooting modes make it a standout compact unit. When it comes down to it, it all depends on how much you like touchscreens.

Hardware and Design

The 12-megapixel Canon PowerShot Elph 500 HS is one of a new breed of Canon point-and-shoots announced in early 2011: The "HS" designation refers to the camera's "High Sensitivity System" CMOS sensor, which the company claims enhances low-light shots and adds a few innovative shooting modes.

Despite that rejiggered naming convention, the Elph 500 HS is a lot like one of the better Canon point-and-shoots from the past year--the PowerShot SD4000 IS. Like the SD4000 IS, the Elph 500 HS has a bright F2.0 lens, aperture- and shutter-priority modes, creative in-camera offerings, and good image quality.

The Elph 500 HS builds on that foundation, adding a few significant extras to the SD4000 IS's list of specs: an ultra-wide-angle 24mm lens, a slightly larger optical zoom range (4.4X zoom; 24mm to 105mm), a bigger 3.2-inch LCD, and the aforementioned touchscreen controls for nearly every in-camera function.

Minus the control wheel and buttons on the back of the SD4000 IS, the Elph 500 HS also has a very similar body design, with contoured edges that make the Elph 500 HS a comfortable fit in the hand despite the lack of a raised handgrip, and it is slim but slightly large for a pocket camera, with a body measuring just under an inch deep, 2.2 inches tall, and about 4 inches wide.

HP EliteBook 2740p

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

The HP EliteBook 2740p adds a twist to the typical design of ultraportable laptops. As a notebook, this thin, light PC fits big performance into its small case, but that's not all. You can rotate the display to shift it into tablet mode. A pressure-sensitive stylus can do sketches on screen, or you can point with up to two fingers, enabling multitouch gestures. And this EliteBook supplies nearly every other expected feature, making it a versatile work machine for any portable situation.

I tested the 2.53GHz Intel Core i5-540M version, equipped with 4GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, and an extra battery mounted underneath. (HP charges $1699 for the laptop and $179 for the additional battery such as Hp OmniBook 6000 battery, Hp F1739A battery, Hp Omnibook XE battery, Hp F2024B battery, Hp F2024A battery, HP XH260 battery, HP Pavilion N5200 battery, Hp Omnibook XE3 battery, Hp 346970-001 battery; price as of 8/5/2010.) HP boasts that the machine includes desktop-class chips, and it shows in the performance and battery life; the laptop feels speedy, but battery life is merely adequate.

The machine scored a strong 104 in our WorldBench 6 test suite, putting it near the front of the pack in the ultraportable category, and applications all felt responsive during general use. The EliteBook provides ample power for Office software, image editors, and nearly anything a mobile pro could install.

Integrated Intel GMA HD video processing lags in the most demanding visual tasks, such as high-end GPU-accelerated 3D applications and games. Audiences for either category should look elsewhere, since the EliteBook 2740p targets another niche.

Instead of 3D mastery, the EliteBook impresses with its touchscreen. In the laptop or tablet configuration, you can poke at the screen with a finger or the stylus. The typical features of Wacom screen technology are here, including 255 levels of pressure sensitivity and a stylus with an eraser end for quick changes. The tool enables precise sketches in addition to nuanced photo edits. The stylus slips inside the case when unused, storing it well. The EliteBook automatically senses when the stylus tip is close to the screen to disable fingertip input, but I occasionally still managed to click with my hands when trying to sketch. (You can manually disable nonstylus touch input in the Control Panel.)

Touching with fingertips feels less precise by comparison, but it's still accurate enough to navigate through applications. Once I got used to the screen, I often just poked at icons instead of reaching for the trackpad. The screen supports touch from two fingers at the same time, letting you rotate or resize photos in supported software. Unfortunately, few real-world tools yet take advantage of multitouch, but with this laptop, you'll be ready for their arrival.

The 1280-by-800-pixel screen presents a good range of color and contrast, although this is one of the laptop's weaker elements. Colors lack the full richness found in competitors, and the screen begins to wash out in a bright room. In direct sunlight, the image crumbles, although HP says an optional outdoor-optimized display is available for those who need to work outside.

Basic input devices work well. Flat keys bounce back tightly, and the trackpad always feels responsive. HP also includes an eraser-style pointing stick, similar to what you'll find on ThinkPads. I prefer the concave shape on those competitors, but HP's take on the pointer still quickly whisks the cursor across the screen. Two sets of buttons--one for each pointing device--feel a little too soft, but at least they're individual buttons instead of a seesaw lever for each click.

HP includes few extra buttons, but that's better than a laptop with useless clutter. Touch-sensitive buttons control volume from the corner. Two side-mounted physical buttons activate your browser or e-mail application. A slider switch toggles on or off the 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1. A few extra buttons reveal themselves in tablet mode to reorient the screen and activate Escape and other common commands. They're all well-placed and useful.

The EliteBook 2740p includes almost every significant port: USB 2.0 (three), VGA, FireWire, a headphone/mic jack, gigabit ethernet, and analog modem. You can expand with ExpressCard/34, and an SD slot reads flash cards. A Webcam and mic are ready for videoconferencing and other media capture.

In addition, the laptop's security features can lock down your data. A fingerprint scanner and SmartCard slot can authenticate users. Bundled software can encrypt the drive or permanently destroy old data. An option for the LoJack service can help recover a lost laptop or destroy its data. These touches should fit business users well.

Several aspects of the EliteBook 2740p underperform. Speaker audio sounds loud enough for a small group to hear, but it whistles out music with shrill tones. Battery life is passable at 3 hours, 29 minutes in our tests, but that's not stellar for an ultraportable PC. HP sells a flat "battery slice" accessory for $179 that adds about three hours of battery life, but it also adds about a quarter-inch of thickness and over a pound of weight. HP includes a series of firmware tools that can include a Web browser or access to your Outlook data before you boot into Windows. These would be great additions if Windows could boot in the background, but since you still have to run the full startup process to do anything else, they're rarely useful.

The EliteBook 2740p feels solid as a tablet or laptop. An HP representative said the company put a lot of effort into designing it to be rugged, claiming it can withstand 300 pounds of pressure on the enclosure. Hopefully it'll hold up, since HP ranks dead last in our most recent survey evaluating how companies handle problematic portables.

While it takes an extra battery--and added weight--for the HP EliteBook 2740p to feel complete, this small laptop can handle mobile work anywhere. It's quick, and the convertible touchscreen makes it especially versatile. That touchscreen and the unit's all-around performance make up for the shortcomings in battery life and screen colors.

Best Digital Cameras

Welcome to a Digital Camera Battery specialist
of the Canon Digital Camera Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Though our safari guides are dedicated photographers, they often don't take digital cameras with them when they are on a safari in Tanzania Kenya Uganda as they rather not to have the interruption and concentrate on making the experience as enjoyable as possible for tourists who have paid for the privilege. Our guides do have lots of other opportunities to travel on their own and photograph incredible wildlife & scenery. With this "best digital camera information our travel guides hope to pass on advice to help you get the best digital camera for travel, safaris and wildlife photography.

Best Digital Cameras for Travel in Kenya Tanzania Uganda - the most important features are:

The camera should be Handy - This for a safari travel camera is vital, it should be easy to place in your hand luggage; it has to be simple to hold, we highly recommend a compact digital camera for touring Africa. Remember that professional photographers carry large photographic equipment because it's their job and you are on Kenya Tanzania Uganda holiday with the idea being to enjoy it.

Don't become a Target - Another thing to keep in mind is that if you travel around populated cities like Nairobi, you are immediately a target for thieves.

Safari Camera - When you travel on safari in Africa, you most probably will be traveling on a 4x4 and the size of your camera is not that critical as long as it is easily available, but if you plan on a walking safari, again a small easy to carry camera is highly recommended.

Best Cameras for Wildlife Photography

When photographing wildlife the most important features to look out for are:

Get in close to the subject - Big Zoom required - the principals of Africa wildlife photography are similar to photographing polar bears in the arctic, you need to get as close as possible.

Digital Camera Battery types and Battery life

Battery life and what type of batteries the camera takes like canon NB-1L battery, canon NB-2L battery, canon BP-511 battery, canon NB-5L battery, canon NB-4L battery, canon NB-5H battery is also an important consideration to take into account, remember if you are traveling to remote locations there may not be any electricity to charge your batteries, therefore buying a spare battery or two is a must.

New Centrino Laptops Come Alive

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Intel’s unveiling of their latest-generation Centrino processor technology (formerly known as Santa Rosa) for use in notebook computers in the consumer and business arenas, has of course sparked a flurry of new laptop announcements as major computer brands race to be the first to market with features like faster Intel Core Duo 2 processors. Toshiba, Lenovo, HP, Sony, Gateway, Fujitsu, Acer and Dell, among others, have made it known that they plan on embracing Intel’s newest technology.

Some manufacturers are releasing products immediately, while others roll out new gear a little later. Take a tour with us now of the ever-changing landscape of Laptop land as we give you brief looks at new Centrino Duo (consumer) and Centrino Pro (business) notebook computers coming your way shortly.

Dell

Besides stating it would begin offering a Latitude D430 ultra-mobile notebook and Dell Precision M4300 laptop with the new Intel processors in coming weeks, Dell also unveiled the Latitude D630 (starting price $1,189) and Latitude D830 (starting price $1,249). The former sports a 14.1-inch wide display and weighs in around 4.5 pounds, while the D830 has a 15.4-inch display and weighs around six pounds. Dell said testing on the D630 revealed the new Intel processor gave the laptop around 9.4 hours of battery life.

Features on these two models, depending upon configuration, include an encrypted hard drive, Turbo Memory (like the Acer), a solid state drive, a built-in mobile broadband mini-card that supports tri-band high-speed global roaming, brighter displays, integrated 802.11n wireless technology, a biometric reader and durable magnesium alloy construction.

Gateway

The Gateway contribution to this next generation of laptop technology comes in the form of the E-475M and E-265M. These two laptops respectively have 15.4-inch and 14.1-inch widescreen displays, can get upwards of 10-1/2 hours of battery life and have a starting price of around $1,300.

The E-475M is geared as a desktop replacement notebook, while the E-265M is more lightweight with its small 1.3-inch thin design. Either system can be configured with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD X2300 256MB or 512MB PCI Express or Intel GMA X3100 graphics card. Other interesting features include an optional custom built-to-fit 3M Privacy Filter for hiding the screen from prying eyes, a matte black textured plastic which is durable and advanced Intel wireless connectivity technology.

HP

HP, not to be outdone by any of its competitors, today unveiled 13 new notebook PCs which are centered on Intel’s new Centrino offering. Most notable among these are a monster desktop replacement model and an ultra-light Tablet PC.

The HP Pavilion HDX Entertainment Series Notebook PC, also known as the Dragon (because of HPs Imprint design) sports a big 20.1-inch widescreen display and 1080p resolution. This laptop his a long life battery such as Hp F4098A battery, Hp F4809A battery, Hp F4812A battery, compaq 319411-001 battery, Compaq Presario 2100 battery(compaq 2100 battery), Compaq Presario 2500 battery(compaq 2500 battery), Compaq Presario NX9010 battery, Compaq Presario NX9000 battery is so big we’ve actually done break out coverage of it in another story here at Digital Trends. The HP Compaq 2710p Tablet PC, meanwhile, is a convertible notebook design with integrated camera for video conferencing and enhanced keyboard visibility in low light. It also features a silver finish with brushed aluminum accents.

Lenovo

Lenovo brought two new laptops with it to the Intel Centrino Santa Rosa coming out party. These laptops, the $1,399 ThinkPad T61 and $1,249 ThinkPad R61, will both be available in mid-May and offer up a 14.1-inch widescreen display.

The Lenovo ThinkPads look to be some of the tougher notebook computers announced, featuring a honeycomb-designed roll cage which helps to protect the laptop’s LCD from the stresses of daily life. They also offer other features such as enhanced wireless performance through a special design feature, quieter operating noise levels and security options like full disk encryption hard drives, an integrated biometric fingerprint reader and a smart card reader.

Prolong Battery Life With Common Tips

Welcome to a Digital Camera Battery specialist
of the Canon Digital Camera Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Like any beast that needs feeding, your digital camera is always hungry...for power. It requires a constant supply of charged batteries to give you the photographs you desire. But to many, once the batteries have been put in, they are forgotten about - until they let you down and you are left feeling frustrated. This digital photography for beginners article considers the importance of the battery and provides some handy tips for conserving energy, when necessary.

The most obvious tip is this - always have a spare battery (or set) to hand at all times. There is nothing more annoying than having a wonderful photographic opportunity in front of you (such as a beautiful once in a lifetime sunset) which you can only stand by and watch. And all because your camera's battery is flat. Believe me, you'll feel flat, too. If you are using an external flash unit, make sure you have the appropriate batteries such as canon NB-1L battery, canon NB-2L battery, canon BP-511 battery, canon NB-5L battery, canon NB-4L battery, canon NB-5H battery for this to hand, as well.

Depending on how you use your camera, the length of battery life will vary. If you get into trouble, and are unable to quickly charge your battery, or get to a store to obtain new ones, there are a few energy-conserving steps you can take which may prolong your battery power enough for you to get your shot. Or you can use these tips to simply make your batteries last longer throughout their life.

Using your monitor to view pictures is one of the biggest drains on power, and one area of digital photography for beginners that can be a hard habit to break. Therefore, don't review your pictures until you have new batteries in. If you are not viewing the monitor when taking pictures, turn it off, even if you need to leave the camera itself powered up.

Check out you camera's auto turn off function. Most modern digital cameras have a feature that automatically shuts the camera down after a certain period of inactivity. In many cases, this is adjustable, so you may be able to reduce the amount of inactive time before shutdown.

The built in flash unit also consumes much power. If flash recycle time starts to slow down, this is usually a sign of impending doom (or battery failure, to be less dramatic). Limiting flash by ensuring your auto flash option is off, and using available light, will help.

If your camera has Image Stabilisation, some models will conserve battery power when this is turned off. This can vary, though, so check your camera's manual to find out if this applies.

Many cameras offer continuous autofocus as an option. In this case, the focus is being altered constantly whilst the shutter is being depressed. Some battery power may be preserved by switching to regular autofocus, or manual focus, such as on a Digital SLR.

Whilst the subject of batteries may easily be overlooked, you should consider these as vital as any aspect of digital photography for beginners. You only need to be let down by dud batteries once to realise how important they are. In short, keep spare batteries with you at all times, and you will never go far wrong.

How To Open A Dell Laptop Battery

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the dell laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Save any open files on your computer, then shut off your Dell computer altogether. Be sure to double-check to ensure that your computer is not receiving any power. It is critical that no power is being sent to the unit as you proceed to remove the battery. Make sure the AC adapter is not plugged in and that the power indicator light is not on.

Locate the two small latches of your battery such as dell INSPIRON 2600 battery, dell INSPIRON 2650 battery, dell 1G222 battery, dell BAT3151L8 battery, dell Latitude X300 battery, dell W0465 battery, dell Inspiron 2000 battery, dell Latitude LS battery, dell 2834T battery, dell 4834T battery, which will be near the connector. Release both latches, which will be located on the left and right sides of the battery. To unlock these two latches, use a tiny flathead screwdriver. Use the flathead screwdriver to loosen the assortment of screws, and then remove each one. Be sure to save each of these tiny screws as you will need them to replace the battery once you are finished. It is advisable to place each screw in a plastic or Ziploc bag for temporary storage during the procedure.

Use a special prying mechanism for this step. This mechanism should be whatever can fit in between the battery covers on the inside without breaking, getting stuck or becoming immobile as a result. This may include any number of household objects like a paper clip. Take this small, thin device and work one or more between the battery covers on each side.

Place a guitar pick between the battery connector and the battery cover to keep them from snapping back together.

Insert the second guitar pick between the sides of the battery cover and slide the pick along the side to unlock the hidden latches inside it. Do this on the left and right sides of the battery.

Remove the Phillips-head screws at the four corners and at other sealed points on the bottom of the laptop. Most laptop computers are secured with at least 12 screws. For example, Dell laptops are secured with 24 screws on the back cabinet, including two screws that secure the cover for the hard drive.

Remove the covers for individual components, such as the hard drive and the memory, from the bottom of the laptop. Keep all internal components with the covers that secure them. The hard drive, for example, can be removed and set on its protective cover for easy replacement.

Lift the bottom cover straight off the laptop, taking care not to jostle any internal parts as you remove the cover. If you encounter any resistance, stop and identify the stuck part. Do not attempt to force the cover off the laptop.

Place the screws in a cup or container for safekeeping, as they can roll off the table and become lost. It is very risky to operate a laptop with missing screws because internal parts are held in place partly by pressure from a secure cover.

Remove any latches preventing you from opening your computer. Laptops are all made differently and may have latches or strips of metal or plastic preventing the case from coming apart. For example, according to our sites many Dell laptops have a keyboard strip along the top side of the computer (underneath the screen) that you will need to gently pry up and remove before opening your laptop.

Take out any small modules, which are plastic coverings usually held to the laptop by screws that allows you to access certain components without taking the entire case off. To open the laptop case, these need to be removed.
