battery have five contacts than three

Why do Li Ion batteries like IBM X60 laptop battery have five contacts than three?

Lots of rechargeable batteries have 3 or even 4 contacts. For the most part they are used to sense the battery temperature. If the battery gets hot the charger either shuts down for some time or switches to a slower charge rate.

Where is the lowest priced place to buy IBM Thinkpad X60 battery such as IBM ThinkPad T22 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T23 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T30 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T40 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T41 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T42 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T43 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T60 Battery, IBM ThinkPad T61 Battery, IBM ThinkPad X20 Battery, IBM ThinkPad X21 Battery, IBM ThinkPad X22 Battery?

I am looking to buy both these things & i am having issues finding lovely prices for them.

GOOD or BAD ???? I am thinking about the IBM Thinkpad X60 battery.

It contains the IBM Thinkpad X60 replacement battery battery pack.

I am glad it comes with a battery pack that lasts longer than a standard.

but:

1. What is the lifetime of such a battery pack? How lots of reuses can i get out of it?

2. Are such Li-ion batteries or specially this Sony pack respectable?

3.Ought to i purchase a second battery pack & leave it on the shelf for a year when the 1st pack dies?

I would not bother purchasing a second battery at this stage, I am not definite of how lots of times a battery can be charged, but it would be a large number of times.

Another smart promotion idea from Sony, of coursework. If I were you, I would use the one battery & takes steps to preserve it is life by turning off the LCD screen in- between shots, limit how long you review your images, & also limit your use of the flash. You can also turn off the LCD & use the viewfinder in lieu to compose your shots. Doing this, will give you plenty more battery life. & make definite you give the battery a top up charge as often as feasible. You don't must wait for the battery to fully drain before you re-charge it.

How long do lithium batteries last, in a digital camrea? Hello i have a IBM X60 Lithium-ion battery , & im wondering how long would it last on an average.

Tips to boot up your laptop hunt

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

Laptop computers have taken over the market from desktops, but along the way many of them have become the functional equivalent of their deskbound cousins.

Laptop users tote them no farther than from one room to another, not really minding their heft or short battery life.

But many users — college students among them — still need laptops that survive away from desks and power outlets. Neither heavy "desktop replacements" nor ultralight netbooks with tiny screens and cramped keyboards work in that scenario.

This piece is for those shoppers. What should they consider when looking for a new laptop?

Mac or Windows: There's no getting around two issues. One, Windows computers have gotten a lot cheaper than Apple's Macs — a PC is easily found for as little as $300 with the cutdown Home Basic edition of Windows Vista, while Apple's cheapest laptop sells for $999. Two, Mac OS X is better than Windows Vista. OS X boots up faster, uses less memory, needs less maintenance and faces far fewer security risks than Vista (and still lets you run Windows alongside OS X).

In other words, you'll pay one way or another.

Both Apple and Microsoft will ship new operating systems this fall, with free or nearly free upgrades for anybody buying a laptop now.

Apple says its OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard will include numerous performance improvements. Microsoft's Windows 7 should also run more efficiently than its predecessor and brings some interface refinements to the Windows desktop.

Both releases look promising, but history suggests that Apple's upgrade will be easier than Microsoft's.

Weight and screen size: If the computer will be hanging from your shoulder, don't get one weighing more than 5 pounds (the power brick will add from half a pound to more than a pound, depending on how much care was taken with its design). That would probably limit you to a 13- or 14-inch screen — almost always with a webcam mounted above it. If you can accept a 12-inch display, it's easier to keep the laptop's weight below 4 pounds.

Battery life: Many manufacturers won't cite a number here, but you can bet those computers won't run for more than three hours untethered. On some Windows laptops, you can buy higher-capacity batteries such as Hp F2019 battery, a worthwhile upgrade if they don't add more than half a pound.

Apple is switching to sealed-in-the-case batteries that run much longer: a 13-inch MacBook Pro played a collection of MP3s for just over five hours.

HP Pavilion dv2660se Value

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Hp laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

The $899 (as of 2/7/08) HP Pavilion dv2660se offers strictly budget performance, but its battery life and a great design make it our winning laptop under $1000.

The dv2660se (the se stands for "special edition") comes with a 1.5-GHz Core 2 Duo T5250 processor coupled with 2GB of memory shared with the laptop's Intel 965 Express integrated graphics. The notebook's WorldBench 6 Beta 2 score of 67 is significantly lower than the high-eighties scores of some portables with the latest mobile chips, but it's not bad for a budget machine.

In fact, the score beats the average of 65 earned by the five sub-$1000 laptops we tested for this roundup and is only five points below the average for all the all-purpose notebooks that we've tested of late, regardless of price. However, don't expect its graphics power to be good enough to play 3D games well.

Battery life was just short of amazing. This six-pound unit's high-capacity 12-cell battery such as Hp F1739A battery, Hp Omnibook XE battery, Hp PF723A battery, Hp Pavilion dv2000 battery, Hp Pavilion dv2700 battery, Hp pavilion dv6000 battery, Hp EV087AA battery, Hp CGR-B1870AE battery, Hp Pavilion ZT1000 battery, Hp F4809A battery endured for a whopping 6.3 hours on one charge in our tests. That's about 2.5 hours longer than the average mainstream laptop. The way the big battery protrudes from the bottom of the notebook does not make the dv2660se the most briefcase- or backpack-friendly model in our test bunch, but it does give the keyboard a very nice slant for extra-comfortable typing. The dedicated on-off touchpad button, slightly concave keys, and deep-depressing mouse buttons help typing, too.

The overall design of this Windows Vista Home Premium laptop is just about the best you'll find among budget units. For one, as the latest in HP's designer line of notebooks, this model is stamped with an embedded motif--sweeping tendrils that drape partway over the touchpad like a vine.

Another nice extra is the notebook's instant-on capability via HP's QuickPlay menu, accessed through a touch-sensitive media control panel at the top of the keyboard; it lets you play a CD or DVD without first launching Windows, so it's a great time saver. Two other nice multimedia touches: a Webcam and dual headphone ports on the front so two people can listen in private at once. (Not that you really need headphones because the built-in speakers sound pretty darn good without them.)

The 14.1-inch, 1280-by-800-pixel screen could be a tad brighter, but it's easy enough to read, and it has enough room to comfortably view several open windows at once. The dv2660se does lack some increasingly mainstream features, such as 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, gigabit ethernet, and a fingerprint reader. However, it has 802.11g Wi-Fi, which should provide fast-enough wireless connectivity for most. It also has a DVD writer and an ExpressCard slot. And the dv2600se is one of the few laptops in this price range to bundle a full-fledged set of productivity applications in the form of Microsoft Works 8.5.

Finally, the dv2660se has the most upgrade potential thanks to a side connection that all Pavilion laptops have for HP's Swiss knife-like xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base. Though you're looking at an investment of several hundred dollars more, this stand/storage docking station lets you add better speakers and another hard drive, a nice option for those who might have the itch to improve the system later on.
