Sony Tablet S Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

It’s been some time since Sony had a tablet on the market. Times have changed since the VAIO UX’s day, though, and where once tablets were niche devices, now they’re making headway into our living rooms. The Sony Tablet S is the first model of the company’s new strategy, packing Android Honeycomb into a hardware design that’s a little more interesting than many rivals have managed. Late to the game against the iPad, though, has the Tablet S’ tardiness undermined its potential? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Hardware

Sony hasn’t strayed too far from the Honeycomb herd with the Tablet S’ core specifications. Powered by NVIDIA’s dual-core Tegra 2 paired with 1GB of RAM, its dimensions are kept compact thanks to a slightly smaller than usual 9.4-inch capacitive touchscreen. This still runs at 1280 x 800, like 10.1-inch Honeycomb slates, so the only real difference is a slightly higher pixel density. The display overall is a success, with wide viewing angles and solid contrast, though as is often the case it’s highly reflective and a fingerprint magnet.

Where Sony first pulls away from the pack is in the physical design; this is no basic slab. Sony calls it “folding design” and says the tapering form-factor is based on a folded-back magazine. The company has even carried that through to the rear panel, emphasizing the asymmetry with a ridgeline where the curve ends, and using contrasting white and black plastic to highlight. Ports – including a full-sized SD card reader, useful for quickly checking shots from your digital camera, and microUSB, though no HDMI – are clustered in the white end-caps, some under flip-out panels.

Battery

Sony claims iPad 2 equaling battery life from the 5,000 mAh battery such as Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery in the Tablet S, and our experience suggests that’s a reasonably fair estimate. With mixed use but a solid amount of browsing and gaming, together with multimedia playback, we saw approximately ten hours of runtime. Less ambitious use, like ereading, and more casual browsing should see that extend even further.

Accessories

Sony has two key Tablet S accessories initially, a Bluetooth Keyboard ($79.99) and a Desk Cradle ($39.99). The former – which in fact works with any Bluetooth tablet – is a low-profile ‘board with a similar layout to the keys on Sony’s VAIO laptop range. It has a line of dedicated keys for Android tablets, such as Home, Search, the contextual menu, etc., which work with models from other companies.

The Desk Cradle, meanwhile, is a little less useful. It only charges the Tablet S, and has no ports or other connectivity. While it can be adjusted for angle, it only has two positions rather than free movement. Drop the slate in, and a menu offers a choice of displaying the gallery, a desk clock or the preloaded chumby app with its various widgets. With no HDMI output on either tablet or dock, there’s currently no way to hook the Tablet S up to a big-screen TV, Sony instead relying on the DLNA support.

Wrap-Up

Sony’s UX series VAIO UMPCs were, with their tiny slide-out keyboards and futuristic design, innovative enough to still show up in motion pictures as space-age props long after their actual hardware was outdated. The company has attempted some of that creativity with the Sony Tablet S, too, though it’s far more in line with what other Android device manufacturers are pushing out. We’ll have to wait for the dual-display Tablet P, with its pair of 5.5-inch touchscreens, for the truly eye-catching hardware.

Starting at $499 when the Tablet S goes on sale in mid-September, Sony matches the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 pricing. That’s perhaps a brave strategy given the Apple slate’s current dominance, though viewed against the Samsung each has its strengths and weaknesses. Sony has packed the Tablet S with a higher resolution rear camera than that in the Galaxy Tab 10.1, and the custom apps are arguably more useful than Samsung’s TouchWiz interface, especially the universal remote; on the flip-side, it’s a chunkier tablet than the Samsung and the asymmetrical design forces compromises in terms of bulk that have to be balanced against the increased ease of holding it in portrait orientation. Performance and app selection are in the same ballpark, for the most part.

Sony Vaio P - Pocket PC

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

I'm sure you must have seen the ad where a lady tries to contain a gleaming red gadget from falling out of her back pocket. Yes, that's the Vaio P, Sony's latest Ultra mobile PC, and we have it in the labs today for a full review. We had previewed the Vaio P last month and although we didn't get to spend a lot of time with it, everyone went gaga over it.

It's very rare for Sony to send out review samples and if this is a sign of things to come, then hopefully we can expect more products in the future. Sony has sent us their full-blown version of the Vaio P that comes with Vista Home Premium, 64GB SSD and a couple of bundled accessories. First let's check out the bundle followed by a closer look at the Vaio P itself.

Battery Life

The Vaio P comes with a two cell Lithium Ion battery like Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery instead of the previously stated Lithium Polymer battery. Before testing, the battery was charged to a 100% and the brightness was kept at medium with Wi-Fi off.

I was pleasantly surprised when the Vaio P gave me a back up time of three hours and 20 minutes after which it was completely dead. This is very close to the rated four hour target and is good for a two cell battery.

Instant Mode

This is essentially your PSP/PS3 CrossMedia bar (XMB) that lets you quickly browse through photos and surf the Internet without booting into Windows. What's odd is that even this interface is jerky and not smooth like the one used on the PSP, which really makes me wonder what's eating all the resources? Either there's some major bug in the firmware or Sony needs to work on a patch to fix this problem. I definitely don't expect Linux to run so poorly on an Intel Atom with 2GB of memory.

Verdict

Call it the ultimate productive gadget or the rich kids tech toy, you cannot deny the fact that Sony has created a memorable piece of gadgetry that's going to inspire plenty of spin-offs from many manufacturers. The entire design and execution of the Vaio P is sheer genius and once you flip it out of your coat pocket or handbag, its game over.

The Sony Vaio P is available in many colors keeping both the sexes in mind. The screen is simply gorgeous sporting a really high resolution. The keyboard layout is well thought and is really comfortable once you get a hang of it.

Of course don't expect the state-of-the-art technology to be cheap. The base model has a price tag of Rs. 50,000, while the full-blown model that we reviewed comes for Rs. 65,000. While this could be device for someone looking at a productive gadget for work and entertainment on the go, Vista ruins the show.

Not only is it too much for the Atom processor to handle, you cannot even play a normal DVD movie without the video locking up every few seconds. Another thing I noticed is that the bottom of the Vaio P gets really hot during normal usage, which is not good for the components.

Make no mistake, Sony is strictly targeting the wealthy youth and businessmen with the Vaio P so don't expect any major price cuts, as the sole audience is going to be the rich folk with oodles of spare cash. My only resentment is the operating system which is a damper on what otherwise would have been the perfect little pocket PC.

Sony unveils new line of VAIO BX-Series notebooks

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Sony of Canada Ltd. has unveiled the latest edition to its line of VAIO professional notebook personal computers, combining a choice of display sizes, swappable accessories and multiple configuration options into a single platform.

The Sony VAIO BX-Series of notebook PCs is available in two display sizes -- 15.4 and 17-inch (available in Q1 2006) wide screen sizes -- the same optional accessories such as a docking station with battery charger, standard and large capacity batteries like Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery and wireless presentation mouse can be used across the series so accessories can be shared and costs reduced, officials said.

Sony of Canada's extended warranty program features a menu of three major repair options offered over one, two and three years. The menu consists of standard shop service offered over 24 and 36 months; on-site service offered over 12, 24 and 36 months; and accidental damage coverage and on-site coverage offered over 12, 24 and 36 months.

All sizes also feature Sony's multi-function bay. Users can swap out peripherals, such as a DVD (+/-) RW, +R double layer drive (not all DVD media/formats are universally compatible) or an 80-gigabyte (GB) hard drive bay unit. Each of these optional accessories is cross-compatible with all three size configurations of the VAIO BX-Series notebook PC.

According to Michelle Warren, analyst for the Toronto-based Evans Research Corp., notebook vendors are doing very well in Canada this year.

"For example, in the second quarter shipments were up 39 per cent from the same time last year," she said. "Prices are coming down slightly, while functionality is increasing, which directly contributes to the rise in demand. Also, competition is heating up, as more vendors enter the segment, which is also contributing to the aggressive price points."

The SMB market is responding well to the landscape, as it benefits from the aggressive prices and the increased functionality. The final quarter is expected to be the strongest of the year, Warren noted, which is also expected to be the strongest on this segment has experienced to date.

"It has been a very good year indeed for notebook market growth both with SMBs and the consumer market segment," said John B. Challinor, general manager, advertising and communications, for Toronto-based Sony of Canada. "Notebooks are replacing desktop computers in both markets; they're definitely taking over."

Meanwhile, the VAIO BX-Series notebook PC line incorporates a Trusted Platform Module (TCG Ver.1.1b compliant) to set the level of security on a specific client/user basis. Data can be encrypted over a local network or over the Internet so IT managers have the ability to dial in the specific level of access. Additionally, it features an integrated biometric fingerprint sensor, which delivers personal security and eliminates the need to remember different corporate passwords.

Select models of the VAIO BX-Series notebook PCs also incorporate Bluetooth technology for communication with Bluetooth-enabled peripherals (may vary as not all Bluetooth devices are compatible) such as a personal digital assistant (PDA), cellular phone or wireless headset. The book is also outfitted with an optional built-in camera and pre-loaded with Sony's Instant Video Everywhere or IVE service powered by GlowPoint.

The VAIO BX-Series notebook PC line will be available in mid-October, with manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRP) starting at $1,749.99, officials said.

Sony VAIO VPC-EE23FX/BI

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Sony's VAIO EE23FX/BI laptop may be affordable but it doesn't really set itself apart from the competition in terms of features, performance or price. Instead, the system really comes down to design and function. The keyboard is very well made and a joy to type on and the system runs very quiet with little in terms of heat. The downside is that the exterior case shows many fingerprints and the glittered palmrest looks like a child dropped some craft materials on it.

Pros

•Laptop Is Very Quite And Cool

•Comfortable Full Sized Keyboard With Numeric Pad

Cons

•Glossy Case Attracts Lots Of Fingerprints

•Glitter Pattern Palmrest Looks Cheap

Description

•AMD Athlon II P320 Dual Core Mobile Processor

•4GB PC3-8500 DDR3 Memory

•320GB 5400rpm SATA Hard Drive

•8x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Burner

•15.5" WXGA (1366x768) LED Backlit Display With VGA Webcam

•ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 Integrated Graphics

•Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wireless

•Four USB 2.0, HDMI, VGA, SD Card Slot, Memory Stick Card Slot

•14.6" x 9.8" x 1.5" @ 5.9 lbs.

•Windows 7 Home Premium

Sony has decided to mix things up with the VAIO EE series laptops by switching away from the Intel processors to use the more affordable AMD chips. In the case of the EE23FX, it uses the AMD Athlon II P320 dual core processor. For may people, this processor will provide enough performance but it does fall short of the Intel Core i3 in most tasks. The 4GB of DDR3 memory help it avoid too many slowdowns from multitasking or memory intensive programs.

Storage features on the VAIO EE are pretty much in line with just about every other budget laptop on the market. It comes with a 320GB hard drive that provides a decent amount of storage space for applications, data and media files. It spins at the traditional 5400rpm rate which gives it modest performance. A standard dual layer DVD burner handles all playback and recording of CDs or DVDs. The front of the laptop features slots for the very common SD media card type and the lesser Sony Memory Stick.

The display on the Sony VAIO EE uses a 15.5-inch panel that features a standard 1366x768 native resolution. It also comes with a glossy coating that is common to the consumer laptop market which produces a fair amount of glare and reflections under certain lighting conditions. Powering the graphics is an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 integrated graphics solution. This is a step up from the Intel integrated graphics solutions particularly for 3D graphics performance. It is still very limited compared to a dedicated solution and can only really be used for casual 3D gaming at very low resolution and detail levels.

Like many other budget laptops, the VAIO EE series uses a six cell battery pack that the company calls the standard capacity battery such as Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery. In DVD playback testing, the laptop is able to run for roughly two and half hours before going into standby mode. More traditional usage should yield about another hour for three and a half hours of use. This falls in line with many other laptops in the $650 price range.

The design of the Sony VAIO EE is going to be love or hate for most people. The black casing is very glossy. While many companies have gone to textured design to hide prints, the Sony design lacks this so it turns into a fingerprint magnet that requires a large amount of cleaning. The interior palmrest area does differ by adding in some glitter particles. This unfortunately actually makes the laptop look less sophisticated.

One nice aspect of the Sony VAIO EE is the keyboard design. It uses the isolated key layout common to many other models that provides it with a very comfortable and accurate design that is a pleasure to type on. The laptop also features a full sized numeric keypad which is very useful for those that need to do a lot of number input.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony Digital Camera Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If you're looking for fun in-camera extras and editing tools in a point-and-shoot digital camera, the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 is a great option. A wide-angle lens, a sharp 3-inch LCD screen, and a 720p HD movie mode also add to its overall appeal, but we have seen better image quality from similarly priced cameras in 2009.

The 12-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-W290 ($250 as of 7/10/2009) has a 5X optical-zoom Carl Zeiss lens, starting at 28mm on the wide-angle end to 140mm on the telephoto end. It's a bit thicker than many competing point-and-shoots, but still pocketable: about 4 inches wide, 2.5 inches high, and an inch deep.

Overall image quality was rated as Good, according to PC World Test Center jury evaluations. The W290 fared well in terms of overall exposure in our tests, but image sharpness and distortion were shortcomings. The identically priced Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS25, for example, outscored this Sony in most imaging categories.

In informal hands-on tests, I found that the W290 takes good high-ISO shots in low light, although noise is visible at ISO 3200 and ISO 1600--not enough to ruin the shots, however. The W290 also takes about a second or more to save photos at high-ISO, low-light settings. During hands-on tests, it also became evident that the Cyber-shot W290's optical image stabilization is effective with a small level of shake, but struggled to take a sharp image when the camera was shaken more vigorously.

The W290 has only ten scene modes, which is a low count compared with competitors in its price range, but that also means it's bloat-free: You get all the essential and often-used modes, such as high ISO, Landscape, Snow, Fireworks, and Soft Focus.

As usual with Sony cameras, the camera settings are easily accessible via a mode dial on the back, and the user interface is helped by the excellent and intuitive on-screen menus. What's more, this model has a dedicated "Smile Shutter" button on the top of the camera (next to the shutter button); this lets you quickly turn on the camera's smile-triggered shutter feature. Smile Shutter automatically takes a picture once the subject smiles, and you can even adjust the sensitivity of the smile trigger in the camera.

The smile-triggered shutter is pretty commonplace among point-and-shoots these days, but a few features in the W290 set it apart from other pocket cameras. First and foremost is the range of creative image-editing features you get in this camera. Instead of applying "live" effects to your photos, many of these features can be applied after you take your shots: You can add fish-eye effects, radial blur, or red-eye correction; isolate one color in your photos while turning the rest of the image black and white; and apply a "retro" effect that mimics a pinhole camera.

But by far the weirdest--and the most fun--in-camera feature is the "Happy Faces" mode, which lets you add a fake smile to underwhelmed photo subjects. You can see for yourself how the "Happy Faces" mode can put a smile on the face of the Mona Lisa and on a serious-looking Barack Obama.

The advantage to adding these effects after your shots are taken is that you preserve the original image; cameras such as Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FS25 and Canon's PowerShot SD780 IS have pinhole-camera simulators and color-isolation modes, respectively, but both cameras apply those effects to the source image as it's being shot.

Battery life is a huge plus: the Cyber-shot DSC-W290 fired off 342 shots on a single charge of its lithium ion battery like sony NP-F550 battery, sony NP-FR1 battery, sony NP-FM50 battery, sony NP-FM51 battery, sony NP-F10 battery, sony NP-FE1 battery, sony DSC-T7 battery, good enough for a PC World Test Center score of Very Good. Unfortunately, you need to remove the battery from the camera to charge it; the camera comes with a plug-in battery charger.

The button layout is straight-forward: On top of the camera are the power button, the shutter button, and the Smile Shutter button. On the back, next to the big and clear 3-inch LCD, are the zoom toggle, the mode dial, the playback button, and a four-way directional pad for menu navigation (doubling as one-touch access to the flash settings, macro mode, self timer, and display settings), as well as a menu button and a delete button. One lack: The camera has no optical viewfinder.

On the bottom of the camera is the A/V-out port for transferring photos and movies to your PC; unfortunately, it's a proprietary connector on the camera's side of things, so you can't swap in a mini-USB or micro-USB cable for that task. Another downside is the plastic battery door on the bottom of the camera--it feels as if it could snap off way too easily. Besides the battery itself, this compartment holds another proprietary item: a Memory Stick storage slot. (You don't get a Memory Stick card with the camera.)

In addition to the scene modes, four top-level shooting modes are also accessible from the mode dial. Easy Auto Mode automatically optimizes in-camera settings for a scene and hides all the more-complicated settings from the shooter. Intelligent Auto Mode combines automatic scene optimization, optical stabilization, and face detection. Program Mode lets you adjust white balance, exposure compensation, dynamic range settings, ISO levels, and metering options; however, you don't get anything in the way of shutter and aperture controls, but that's common in a camera of this price and size. Lastly, Movie Mode lets you shoot 720p high-definition clips or 640-by-480 standard-definition clips, both as MPEG-4 files at 30 frames per second. You can't use the zoom in movie mode, which is common in point-and-shoots.

The Cyber-shot W290 may not have the sharpest image quality in its price range, but casual photographers looking for a big display, ease of use, and good battery life will likely be pleased with it. Those looking for fun in-camera features and editing tools will be delighted.

Sony Announced X Series

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptops-battery-online.com

Sony teased the Vaio X at this year's IFA conference in Berlin, which essentially functions as the European version of CES. With no spec sheet or press release to be found, all we know are the bare essentials from Sony's press conference. Now, fast forward to just a few months later, and Sony has unveiled its latest netbook, the VAIO X. This time, the X looks set to razzle and dazzle with its super slim form factor, lightweight design and really expensive price. Of course, the magnesium alloy chassis and carbon fiber frame of the notebook doesn't come cheap by any standards, but it does give it a feel that's just perfect for the business users that this netbook is targeted at. How perfect you ask? We'll find out more over the next few pages but let's start with our usual exterior pictures and table of specifications first.

So how was Sony able to achieve such a thin and light netbook? The VAIO X's chassis is made of a magnesium alloy, and the lid is built from carbon fiber. This material allows the screen to flex, which can be a bit unnerving, but Sony said that it's designed to bend somewhat. Also, by using an Intel Atom Z-series processor, which uses less power (and creates less heat) than the N-series Atom chips in most netbooks, the company was able to make the netbook incredibly slim without requiring a fan. The lid of our review unit was matte black, as was the inside, with a bronze underside that felt slightly rough to the touch. Sony also offers the netbook with a Champagne Gold lid, but only for the model with a 128GB SSD (more on that later).

There are some inevitable niggles we need to address. The first is the cramped keyboard. Sony does its best, with the isolated keys giving greater margins for error when typing, but the tiny right Shift key takes a lot of getting used to, as do all the keys in the bottom-right area: the full stop and cursor keys are a particular challenge. We never looked forward to using this keyboard. The tiny touchpad is also an issue. It seems odd to include such a tiny touchpad when there's plentiful space below the keyboard, especially since Sony has included a scrolling area at the bottom and far right of it. At least it's responsive when you touch it in the right place, and coupled with the relatively small screen we found it usable when travelling.

Running on an Intel Atom Z550 (2.0GHz) processor, sporting 2GB DDR2 RAM, a Samsung 128GB SSD, and integrated Intel GMA 500 graphics, the VAIO X was slightly sluggish in our real world handling. Of course, everything turned out better once Aero was turned off, but this felt strange, seeing as how our previous experience with normal netbooks with Aero turned on in Windows 7 RC was lag free. Strangely, this isn't reflected in our performance benchmarking tests in the Windows 7 operating system as the scores do indicate a relatively faster performance compared to your average netbook. Perhaps this could be something related to the slower FSB between the processor and the chipset. Note that we would have loved to test the VAIO X using PCMark Vantage, but unfortunately, we were unable to get it running.

Packing a specially designed 4-cell battery like Sony VGP-BP2EA Battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS2A Battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS4 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 Battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 Battery, Sony PCG-GRS900 Battery, Sony PCG-GRT25 Battery, Sony PCG-R505 Battery, the Intel Atom powered notebook ought to do fine in our battery test, and given its lightweight form factor, it should score pretty high in our Portability Index test. The battery basically places the two battery cells at the side while the middle has a depression to accommodate the trackpad on the chassis. It's an innovative design for sure; instead of finding a spot to squeeze a battery into the chassis, Sony fits the battery around the VAIO X's design.

Sony's VAIO X is so light and stylish, this product is practically in a class by itself. It sets a new standard for portability. Additionally, the built-in 3G and GPS ensures that users will be connected wherever they go. However, for an 11-inch system, we were disappointed in this machine's small keyboard and touchpad. If you have the cash, the VAIO X's industrial design will definitely turn heads, but you'll sacrifice ergonomic comfort.

Sony Vaio VPCEA1S1E/W

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptops-battery-online.com

Along with long hours of power life, it will be possible to make use of this laptop as you may enjoy all day long. The laptop does not weigh a lot in comparison with some other laptops in its class, we can state it's rather light-weight. Even though there are potential competitors, VPC EA1S1E/W nonetheless amazes us with its stylish design along with everything else. I could point out this specific laptop which we have been analysing may be a nominee for the most powerful 2010 laptops.

Since Sony Vaio launched VPC EA1S1E/W most of us have been completely looking ahead to this particular minute and now it's there, lastly we can set our own hands on brand-new Sony Vaio VPC laptop. The newest VPC EA1S1E/W laptop from Sony Vaio carries on impress everyone having a great structure, enhanced effectiveness in addition to wonderful flexibility. I'm convinced that everybody will certainly really enjoy this laptop as it is outstanding in every aspect. It is very fascinating to possess this particular machine given that Sony Vaio put in lots of new batteries such as Sony VGN-CR390 Battery, Sony VGN-CR4000 Battery, Sony VGN-S4HP Battery, Sony VGN-SZ740 Battery, Sony VGN-SZ750 Battery, Sony VGN-SZ760 Battery, Sony VGN-T Battery, Sony VGN-T90S Battery, Sony VGN-T92S Battery, Sony VGN-TX16C Battery, Sony VGN-TX1XP Battery, Sony VGN-TX25C Battery on this unique laptop.

I wouldn't say the high pixel density (the actual quantity of pixels for each millimeter of screen) causes it to be in particular difficult to work with, it has a good resolution to achieve this particular measurement of display screen. It's a step above similarly priced laptops. Moreover much better is the grade of the screen alone. Horizontally watching angles are in reality instead inferior by typical standards, yet they're a lot more than constructed for by the perfect colour production and contrast generated. Good details within videos and photos are generally produced out exceptionally well, a truth even more increased because of the sharpness of the resolution on the relatively compact display as well as the great blacks.

The system cooling fan, while active under numerous situations, seemed to stream a lesser amount of air than needed to keep the laptop cool under intense requirements. Heat performance for the Sony Vaio VPC EA1S1E/W is to some extent under common while under tension.

The touchpad normally is responsive with almost no lag. The touch pad is certainly a glossy one together with some support for multitouch gestures. The touchpad keys are simple to touch using the side of your thumb and give off a small click while pushed. They've got shallow feedback and also require modest force to trigger and that is really more leisurely. If you like the appear and feel of the chiclet-style keyboards, you will end up satisfied when using the VPC EA1S1E/W. The keypad of Sony Vaio VPC EA1S1E/W laptop is an island-style version, the keys feel very great to the fingertips. Personally I do not love island-style keyboards, nevertheless I need to admit they look fairly dazzling.

The processor used on Sony Vaio VPC EA1S1E/W laptop is probably the greatest between cutting edge processors. With the latest top of the line engineering applied to this cpu you're able to run multi-tasks with ease, naturally because of the massive help of RAM that brings torque to this beast laptop. The graphics processor chip applied to this laptop permits you to work more like lighter video games -I necessarily mean it may not deal with the newest games- without having troubles. Sound systems come with EA1S1E/W laptop seem to be rather not too strong, still they are very good for just a laptop.

U.S. researchers say they've developed a new lithium-ion battery that can heal itself, last longer and provide more safety in today's electronics.

Scientists at the University of Illinois looked at the chemistry of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries -- found in cellphones, laptop computers, digital cameras and other portable electronics -- and found that like all batteries they tend to break down over time, NewScientist.com reported Tuesday.

"There are many different types of degradation that happen, and fixing this degradation could help us make longer-lasting batteries such as Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery," Scott White, a UI materials engineer, said.

One site of damage is the battery's negatively charged terminal, the anode, which swells and shrinks as the battery is charged and then discharges over time, eventually creating cracks that can interfere with the flow of current and, ultimately, kill the battery.

White embedded tiny microspheres in the anode that would tear open as the anode began cracking, releasing a liquid metal alloy, indium gallium arsenide, that fills the cracks in the anode and restores the flow of electricity.

White also developed a system to keep batteries from overheating and catching fire in the event of a short circuit within the battery.

"It's not a common occurrence, but when it happens, the consequences are severe," White said.

White developed a second kind of microsphere made of solid polyethylene, embedded in the anode and other battery components.

If the temperature inside the laptop battery rises above 221 degrees Fahrenheit, the spheres melt into a thin layer of insulating material that shuts off the flow of electricity, preventing a fire.

"We've tested this in real batteries," said White, whose research is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. "It works beautifully."

The power of this hardware and improvements in Vista are important steps in the right direction, but it's still Windows. He worked mostly as advertised, but if you wanted to record a TV show on DVD, the system crashed and I had to CTRL + ALT + DEL to restart before I could watch TV or PC. Do not remember ever to do with a TV.

But not everything is perfect in laptop land. First, I find myself constantly checking the battery life that I left. And often, not much. Try almost anything that disappear do look sophisticated and juice.

Nanowire Creates World's Tiniest Battery

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

A filament thinner than a human hair but with twice the charging capacity of today's lithium-ion batteries has been created by scientists at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, NM. Even though the laptop battery is not yet charging drum-beating bunnies, it could lead to smaller, cheaper and more charging devices for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, laptops and cell phones.

The filament-battery such as is made from tin oxide anode and lithium cobalt oxide cathode suspended in an ionic liquid electrolyte.

When charged, ions traveling along the tin oxide nanowire caused it to nearly double in length and also bend and wiggle, producing a so-called "Medusa front" (above, bottom image).

"These observations prove that nanowires can sustain large stress induced by lithiation without breaking, indicating that nanowires are very good candidates for battery electrodes," the team's leader Jianyu Huang said in a press release.

Huang also said that the observations explain how these kinds of flaws occurs, "how they evolve during charging and offer guidance in how to mitigate them," — of which could help developers build better batteries such as Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery that have fewer defects that lead to short circuits and therefore longer battery life.

Maximizing Battery Performance

There are several tips to preserving your battery life and achieving its maximum performance. One simple thing users can do is turn down the brightness of their screen as low as possible. Another option is to check your battery performance tool installed on your computer. This will allow you to control exactly how you want your battery's power to be used.

When you're using your laptop, try not to run many programs at once. This will kill your battery life quickly, and also try to close down any programs that you aren't using at the moment. Go into your computer's settings and adjust features like screen savers, sleep/hibernate mode and auto-save functions to suit your desire.

So many people have to buy the counterfeit batteries and, of course, some consumers are being cheated JS, spend the money to have bought the fake and shoddy products.

Recently, Sony found that the appearance of the Chinese market is very close to the original rechargeable battery counterfeit products, from the appearance of authenticity, it is difficult to determine. These counterfeit goods, some do not have the power to ensure a long period of time when necessary to meet the quality standards of the protection device, the use of such a battery, it may lead to an accident or breakdown. Sony in February 2003 ~ April in a short period of 3 months, it has been confirmed in China and Malaysia, 3 from the fire incident of counterfeit batteries. Up to now, to East Asia as the center of the investigation has found more than 5,000 counterfeit Sony lithium battery products.

Tiger went to find a few original battery Sony photo to everyone, "appreciation", I hope you can be trained before buying a pair of "eyes" to see through the fake one; Of course, if you did not so deep "skill ", it is recommended that before you purchase, if want to buy the Sony batteries have questions, you can call Sony toll-free number 800 810 2228 for consultation, if the need to further confirm the authenticity of the batteries, you can contact the nearest Sony Home Appliances special service station products, some experts do not help.

Sony Corporation (TOKYO: 6502), a world leader in the development of fuel-cell technology for handheld electronic equipment, today announced the launch of its first direct methanol fuel-cell product: Dynario, an external power source that delivers power to mobile digital consumer products. Dynario, together with a dedicated fuel cartridge for refueling on the go, will be launched in Japan, in a limited edition of 3,000 units only, and will be exclusively available at Shop1048 , Sony’s direct-order web site for digital consumer products in the Japanese market. Orders will be accepted from October 22, and shipping will start on October 29.

The power consumption of mobile electronic devices, including mobile phones, has greatly increased with added functionality, including TV reception and Internet connectivity. As a result, battery such as Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery exhaustion has become a major concern. Dynario’s DMFC delivers almost instant refueling that untethers electrical equipment from AC adapters and power outlets. It runs on mix of methanol and ambient oxygen, and the chemical reaction between the two in the fuel cell produces electricity.

Replacement Laptop Battery For Sony PCGA-BP2NX

Specifications Part No: PCGA-BP2NX Battery Type: Li-ion Volt: 10.8 V Capacity: 4400mAh Weight: 433.76g Dimension: 129.60×71.76×20.20mm Color: Black Promotion Price: AU .87 (inc. GST)

Sony recognizes the DMFC as a high potential solution for portable equipment and is promoting intensive technology and product development, including improved practical use and downsizing.

The palm-sized Dynario is Sony’s first DMFC product. Once fueled with an injection of methanol solution from its dedicated cartridge, Dynario starts to generate electricity that is delivered to a digital consumer product—a mobile phone or a digital media player—via a USB cable. On a single refill of methanol which can be made in an instant period (around 20 seconds), Dynario can generate enough power to charge two typical mobile phones.

Batteries Go the Distance

For more than 30 years, president and owner of Anchorage-based Weston Productions, Russ Weston, has been relying on Anton/Bauer to power his hundreds of projects that have taken him to the far reaches of the frozen Alaskan wilderness and beyond, weathering every challenging environment faced. In fact, Anton/Bauer, a brand of The Vitec Group, and the world's premier provider of batteries such as Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, chargers, lighting and other mobile power systems for the professional broadcast, video and film industries, has accompanied Weston on his many illustrious assignments across the globe-from Japan and Australia, to Korea and Russsia. With dozens of productions to his credit, many of which can be seen on The Discovery Channel, The History Channel and National Geographic, Weston reports that the company's batteries have consistently delivered reliable performance.

Today, Weston relies on Anton/Bauer's DIONIC 90 batteries and several other batteries to power his Sony and Panasonic cameras for clients that include CNN, The Travel Channel, NBC News and NASA. "They are great batteries. I just can't say enough about them," he says. After trying other brands, Weston quickly realized his allegiance lied with Anton/Bauer. "Many years ago we tried off-brand batteries that we thought were similar to the DIONIC 90, just a little less expensive. They started out fine, but very quickly they began having problems. They wouldn't take full charges, or they would go strong for about 20 minutes and then die. They also had trouble holding up in the frigid temperatures here in the winter," he says.

Anton/Bauer designed the DIONIC 90 to deliver consistently reliable performance even in some of the most extreme shooting locations on Earth. The DIONIC 90 offers a RealTime(r) display that continually updates the operator on how much run-time remains and on the state of the current charge. It weighs only 1.7 lbs. and can be transported without restriction under the IATA and DOT safety regulations* . The battery can handle a maximum load of 90 watts, offering run-times ranging from six hours at 15 watts to 1.75 hours at 50 watts. Run- time was a key factor in Weston's battery of choice, considering the extreme temperatures he works in. "On one specific day when we did a test run, we turned on the cameras and let them sit out in the cold. It was about -15 degrees, which is an average temperature here in the winter, and the DIONIC 90 lasted far longer than the off-brand battery," he points out.

Further underscoring his commitment, Weston says the evolution of Anton/Bauer's products is a key factor. "I remember back when we shot film we used Anton/Bauer. But I don't shoot film any more. Now, everything is HD, and that's another reason why I like the company-because they keep their products up to date with the current technology." He also cites the battery's lightweight and portability as important features. "I'm usually shooting in very remote locations," he adds. "Sometimes we're on snowmobiles and sometimes we're in small airplanes with just two or three seats. So the less gear I have to transport, the better. We usually take eight of the DIONIC 90 batteries with us, but I don't recall a time when I've ever used all eight batteries. If I use three batteries in one day, I consider that a lot."

A veteran photojournalist and videographer, Weston has been shooting news, documentaries and television shows in Alaska since 1971. He has covered some of the state's most noteworthy events such as the famous gray whales rescue in Point Barrow in 1988 and the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound in 1989. And he was instrumental in arranging Alaska's first ever live broadcast in 1992 with Good Morning America.

"My career behind the camera began with the Air Force as a photojournalist, and then I went to work as a civilian with the Department of Defense (DOD). I was in charge of all the photographic material (both film and stills) for this region of Alaska, which back then was considered the Pacific Northwest," Weston says.

A self-described freelancer, Weston admits much career uncertainty after departing from the DOD. "I wasn't really sure being a videographer was going to work in Alaska, then in 1992 ABC's Good Morning America came here to cover the Distance Early Warning (DEW) Line, which is a live system of satellites in the Arctic Circle designed to warn the U.S. of an attack by Russsia during the Cold War," he explains "They asked me to be part of the show because of my military background, so naturally I said yes. It was a two-year project; I worked as a field producer, cameraman and editor. The show aired in 1994 and the ratings were through the roof. It turned people's attention to Alaska and certainly opened a lot of doors for me."

Misunderstanding of Laptops Batteries Maintainance

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Sony laptop battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Misunderstanding: When the laptop battery is damaged, the cells can be changed by oneself.

If you are not familiar with the battery structures, the operation will cause severe damage and even death. It seems to have been expected by the manufacturers that many laptop batteries are designed with the blocking system. Once the cells are removed from the control circuit, it comes into the blocking state. The circuit doesn't work until a special means conducted.

Different from the dry batteries such as Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery, the li-ion battery cells cannot be changed as one wishes, which will make the battery out of service. If you really want to change them, you'd better go for a professional company to repair. Otherwise, you'll be disappointed by the results.

Misunderstanding: Laptop battery should be activated once a month by deep discharging.

The cycle is good to the Ni-mh batteries while it is unnecessary to the li-ion ones. For the li-ion batteries, it is too often. Although the memory effect hasn't been eliminated completely, there's still a little exists. If the battery is used frequently, you'd better discharge it to about 10% to 15% while the capacity of less than 1% is harmful. Generally speaking, it is best to activate it every two months. If used rarely, only every three months is enough.

Misunderstanding: Laptop battery should be stored before fully charged or discharged.

As a matter of fact, neither of the points is correct. As to fully discharging, it will cause the battery cells lack of activity or even self-lock. Then the battery may be out of work. As to fully charging, it will also damage the battery while the most proper remaining is about 40%. Even the intelligent sony vaio laptop battery will be damaged when unused for long periods with a full capacity.

Furthermore, li-ion batteries are scared about dampness and high temperature. The batteries should be stored in a cool and dry condition. Too high or too low temperature will reduce the capacity rapidly while the proper temperature is approximately 70℉.

Purchase of non-original laptop battery must be aware of the knowledge

The composition of non-original laptop battery is generally of three parts: batteries, PCM plates, shell. A sony battery is lasting mainly the batteries, so if you want to buy laptop battery, then first look at its power core is not imported, because the better the quality of imports and because of the security depends on it, there must be secondary protection, because the secondary protection is essentially to prevent the occurrence of an explosion, of course, to establish the basis of batteries no problem, if the batteries in question, then no matter how good the other stuff is useless. There are batteries such as Sony PCGA-BP1N battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NX battery, Sony PCGA-BP2NY battery, Sony PCGA-BP2R battery, Sony PCGA-BP2S battery, Sony PCGA-BP2T battery, Sony PCGA-BP2V battery, Sony PCGA-BP4V battery, Sony PCGA-BP71 battery in the insulation material is also very important that if the insulation failure, then it is quite short-circuit could cause batteries so that even if secondary protection, are more dangerous, so insulating material to high temperature, it is best not to fire As in the battery has been damaged. For the PCM board, the most important is the program compatible with computers, which need to test the original notebook, but it is costly for manufacturers, the manufacturers generally will not do so. Best laptop battery casing material should be composed by the fire, it will be high temperature, the battery inside the device also has protective effects.

Zero-voltage or low battery voltage of the possible reasons

Zero-voltage or low battery voltage of the possible reasons for what?

(1) whether a single cell zero-voltage branch

(2) plug short circuit, open circuit or bad connection with the plug

(3) lead and battery Sealing-off or a cold solder joint

(4) batteries such as Sony VGP-BPL2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS2 battery, Sony VGP-BPS3 battery, Sony VGP-BPS5 battery, Sony VGP-BPS8 battery, Sony VGP-BPS9 battery, Sony PCG-R505 battery, Sony PCG-V505 battery, Sony PCG-Z505 battery internal connection error, the connection between the chip and battery drain welding, cold solder joint, Sealing-off, etc.

(5) The electronic components inside the battery connection is not correct or damaged

Can not be recharged battery into the Battery power may be What is the reason?

(1) battery to zero voltage or zero-voltage battery in the battery pack

(2) The battery pack connection error, the internal electronic components, protection circuit abnormalities

(3) The charging equipment failure, no output current

(4) External factors leading to the charging efficiency is too low (such as low or high temperature)

Battery Group is unable to discharge the possible reasons for that?

(1) battery after the storage, use, lifetime decay

(2) The charge or charge less than

(3) The ambient temperature is too low

(4) The discharge efficiency is low (such as the large current discharge due to internal material and the proliferation of normal cells fast enough reaction speed, causing a sharp drop in voltage electricity can not be released).

Why does the battery is fully charged when the temperatures soar? Voltage dips Why?

When the nickel-cadmium rechargeable battery is fully charged before continuing fall-off charge, due to the positive Ni (OH) 2 has been almost completely converted to NiOOH, cell potential at this temperature reaches a balance of value (max), this time outside the constant current overcharge to OH-oxidation produces the oxygen.

Chemical Reaction: 4OH-- e → O2 + 2H2O + heat

The production of oxygen through the separator paper and the negative cadmium compound produced:

2Cd + O2 → 2CdO + heat

The combination reaction generated a lot of heat, but the Battery temperature of the entire system. Therefore, at this time there is a sharp rise in temperature phenomenon. And because the higher the temperature the lower the equilibrium potential of the battery, it will inevitably lead to cell equilibrium potential temperature dropped, so at this time there is the battery voltage dips phenomenon.

Convex belly drum at the end of the battery leakage or the possible reasons for what?

(1) The battery is overcharging, especially high-magnification high-current continuous overcharge

(2) The battery is forced over-discharge

What is the explosion of the battery How to prevent battery explosion?

The battery inside the moment any part of the solid material discharged from the batteries were pushed up to more than 25cm distance, called the explosion. Determine whether or not the battery explosion, using the following conditions experiment. Will be a net covering the test battery, the Battery lives in the middle, away from the net on either side of the hood 25cm. Net density of 6-7 roots / cm, network cable with a diameter of 0.25mm soft aluminum, if the experiment without solid part through the network mask to prove that the battery did not explode.
