Acer To Intro US Model of S3 Ultrabook

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

With laptops diversifying in multiple directions, major PC vendors this week leveraged a New York City press event to trot out new models ranging from Toshiba's glasses-free 3D notebook to a small slew of ultrathin models, including the first ultrabook from Acer for the US market.

Acer will officially announce the US edition of its Aspire S3 Ultrabook Laptop in October. The US version will come in the same form factor as its European cousin, with the same height of 1.3 centimeters, or slightly over one-half inch. It will also ship with the same lightweight, high density battery such as Acer UM08A31 battery, Acer UM08A71 battery, Acer UM08A72 battery, Acer UM08B71 battery, Acer Aspire One battery, Acer SQU-410 battery, Acer TravelMate 2100 battery, Acer 1556 battery, Acer BTP-89BM battery, Acer TravelMate 4600 battery, billed as delivering seven hours of power, along with Acer Green Instant On technology, designed to preserve battery life while also providing instant resume functionality.

Acer representatives didn't say whether the US edition will incorporate the same 13.3-inch ultra-thin HD LED display, vent-free bottom, and chiclet-style keyboard as its European counterpart, although all of that seems like a fairly safe bet given the identical dimensions.

US Edition of Acer's S3 Might Be Different

Despite the similar exterior, the US ultrabook might not offer the same processor and storage options which, in the European notebook, amount to a choice of second gen Intel i3/i5/i7 processors, plus a choice of either a 240GB SSD or 320/500GB HDD. The hard drive option also includes embedded SSD to help optimize media and data storage and speed up access.

Please pardon the cliche, but the Aspire S3 felt as light as a veritable feather in my hands, weighing in at less than 1.4 kg, or 3bs. The chiclet-style keyboard was springy and comfortable to the touch. I also noticed the lack of any heat on the keyboard or palmrest areas. Acer has managed this by placing components away from these areas, and also through an airflow design that dissipates warm air in the back of the notebook to stop air from moving back in the direction of the user's hands.

I also checked out the two sleep modes on the S3, and Acer Instant Connect, which gave me blazing fast access to the Internet. Thanks to these sleep modes, the S3 can resume in 1.5 seconds or recover from Deep Sleep in six seconds. I didn't have time during my quick hands-on to play with the integrated Acer Crystal Eye 1.3 megapixel camera and mike -- although I saw that they're in there.

Acer's Three Ultrabook Rivals

Rival ultrabooks also set for shipment this year include the equally Apple MacBook Air-inspired Asus UX21, outfitted with a very high resolution 1600-by-900 display and 256GB SSD, the Toshiba Portege Z835; and the Lenovo IdeaPad U300s, a book-shaped model that uses fans placed under the keyboard to draw in air for cooling purposes.

Also shown at Pepcom, the 13-inch Toshiba Portege, set for release in November, is even lighter than the Acer S3 at 2.45 pounds. The difference actually seemed palpable. It is also wafer-thin, measuring just 0.51-inches -- in comparison to the 13-inch Air's 0.67 inches -- at its thickest point.

To help achieve this thinness, all four vendors have left out optical drives, although the European edition of Acer's S3 does come with an integrated 2-in-1 card reader supporting SD/MMC cards. Of course, you could always attach an optical drive through a USB port. These days, though, optical drives are falling into more and more disuse, now that just about every app can be purchased for download and streaming video and YouTube are taking the place of entertainment DVDs.

Also in the interests of thinness, the PC makers tend to place most of the ports in back. For instance, the left-hand panel of the A3 contains only the two-way reader and a couple of phone jacks.

Still, vendors are managing to pack in a lot of I/O. The Toshiba ultrathin model, for example, offers three USB ports along with HDMI, VGA and Gigabit Ethernet ports. None of the first crop of ultrathins, though, is outfitted with screens supporting 1280p resolution. To view videos in full HD, you need to hook up an HDTV through the HDMI port.

I bought this laptop for class and general wireless use. Having a laptop in class allows me to type out all of my notes and stay connected wherever I am on campus. I needed a budget laptop, and this fit the bill quite nicely. I also wanted a laptop that I could use around the apartment so I wouldn't be tied to my desktop all the time. However, I quickly realized I began using my laptop quite a bit more than my desktop, and it eventually turned into my desktop replacement.

I take the laptop to campus everyday, and there are some shortcomings. Because the laptop has a 15.4" screen, it's relatively large. Unless you're sitting at a table, don't expect to have any room atop of your desk for anything other than your laptop.

When closed, the laptop is fairly flush. The screen turns on when the panel is raised about 20 degrees up and can open to about 190 degrees. The LCD "turn off" button is located on the upper right side between 2 of the hinges, and it is not easily accessible by the finger (although it is possible to press it down with skinny fingers).

Beneath the laptop, the end user has access to the Battery, RAM, HDD, CPU and HSF, and the mini-PCI slot.

There are 4 launch buttons above and to the right of the keyboard: E-Mail, WWW, Empowering Technology (Acer settings), and Launch Manager. All 4 launch buttons can be customized to run any application, file, or web address, along with custom OSD labels.

To the right of the launch buttons is the power button, which lights up green when the system is on. To the left of the launch buttons are 3 status LEDs. The left most is Caps Lock, the middle is Num Lock, and the right most is HDD activity.

Acer Aspire 3003LCi Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

The Acer Aspire 3003LCi is a 15-inch screen budget laptop built by Acer, it's part of the Aspire 3000 series. The 3003LCi weighs 6.1 lbs, which can be considered a light DTR (Desktop Replacement). The specs for this particular model are:

AMD Sempron Mobile 3000+

512 MB DDR RAM (1 dimm.)

60 GB 4200 Rpm Hard Drive

15.0" XGA monitor

Windows XP Home Edition

802.11G internal WLAN

I am impressed by Acer's "folio" design. It looks professional, clean looking, and gives the laptop with battery like Acer AS07A31 Battery, Acer AS07A51 Battery, Acer Aspire 4520 Battery, Acer AS07B72 Battery, Acer Aspire 5520 Battery, Acer BTP-43D1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 220 Battery, Acer BTP-58A1 Battery, acer BTP-60A1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 240 Battery a feeling that it is worth more than it looks. It's curved lines make it seem a lot thinner than it is, even though it isn't really that thick in the first place. The case feels a little flimsy at the wrist rest areas and the screen has a little flex, but the overall build quality of the case feels solid. The case is made up of plastic with a metallic silver look, it feels smooth to the touch. The notebook weighs about 6 pounds. It feels a little heavy, but it is relatively light compared to my old 8 pound Toshiba notebook. The screen hinges feel solid. There is some rippling of the screen that occurs if you push in on the back of the lid. Overall the build quality is OK, good for everyday use, but it's not meant for taking excessive abuse or being taken into the wilderness.

The Acer comes with a 15.0" XGA screen. The screen doesn't have the reflective type coating, which can be better for doing normal tasks, since I don't really watch movies on it anyways. The screen is bright enough, but unfortunately, mine came with one dead pixel. There isn't a lot of light leakage. As far as the dead pixel goes, there was no way to obtain a replacement LCD or notebook, but since it's in the corner, I'll live with it.

The laptop takes about 49 seconds from start to hearing the Windows start-up jingle. The laptop itself feels fast and responsive while doing everyday tasks such as listening to music, surfing the web etc. due to the lack of excessive bloatware eating at the 512 MB of RAM. Having 512MB of RAM is really helpful, which makes the computer a lot more responsive. I could play the Age of Empires 3 demo on this laptop on lower settings of the game, and it runs decently.

The laptop fans run quietly when doing basic tasks, but when you watch videos the fan will sometimes kick in and get a little noisy. The Aspire 3003 isn't really suited to being used in the lap because the fan is on the bottom-right, causing that area to feel hot after a while, so it's better to use this notebook on a flat desk or table to allow for proper cooling.

Wireless:

The laptop comes with a Broadcom 802.11G Wireless Adapter. This card has good reception, and works well. There is no Bluetooth, even though there is a button for it, but it doesn't do anything at all.

Battery:

This is one of the major downfalls of the laptop. The battery lasts only one hour when doing normal tasks, due to the 4-cell battery. Acer should've at least included a 6-cell battery instead of a 4-cell.

Operating System and Software:

This comes preloaded with Windows XP Home, and there is a lack of bloatware (which is good). Some software programs included are: NTI CD-Maker, Acer e-manager and Acer Arcade, which is an all-in-one entertainment software which lets you watch movies, listen to music and view pictures in one handy interface.

Customer Support:

Unfortunately, I had to use the warranty service because there was a small crack on the back of the LCD. When I contacted Acer, they sent a Fed-Ex truck the next day, sent the laptop to their repair facility in Texas, and then contacted me when the laptop was repaired. I received my laptop back repaired, after 2 weeks. I was impressed by their quick service, but I haven't tested out their customer support.

Acer Iconia Tab A100 Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

A slew of hardware makers that didn’t start out as online bookstores—including Acer, Samsung, and Toshiba—debuted 7-inch Android Honeycomb tablets just in time for Amazon’s Kindle Fire to steal their thunder. The apparent goal: to discover if anyone is actually interested in 7-inch tablets. Acer’s Iconia Tab A100 serves as our guinea pig for this form factor.

Like most Honeycomb tablets to date, the Iconia A100 is based on Nvidia’s 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, coupled with GeForce graphics and 1GB RAM. The multitouch LCD retains the 16:9 aspect ratio that other Android tablets use, but in WXGA HD resolution (1024x600). The Iconia A100’s display exhibits excellent black levels and pleasantly accurate color and detail, but it’s not nearly as lusciously detailed and vibrant as the Asus Eee Pad Slider.

With its ample CPU and graphics power, the Iconia A100 measures up to other top-performing slates in terms of screen swipes and redraws. We did, however, detect an ever-so-slight latency in its touch-screen responsiveness as compared to other tablets. Processor-hungry games such as Pinball HD and Sprinkle looked great on the Iconia A100, and gameplay didn’t suffer at all from the smaller screen.

Measuring 7.7x4.6x0.5 inches and weighing 14.5 ounces, the Acer A100 isn't the sleekest 7-inch tablet, but in some ways it's preferable to a 10-inch tablet.

In fact, we preferred the smaller form factor for gaming because it’s easier to hold and touch any area on the screen. This size also beats 10-inch tablets for reading e-books, for thumb typing (in both portrait and landscape modes), and for freaking people out by holding it up to your ear and pretending it’s a phone. We’ve seen sleeker slates, though; the A100 feels a tad bulky, and Samsung and Toshiba have sexier models on offer.

The Iconia A100’s 2-megapixel front-facing webcam and 5-megapixel rear camera (with autofocus, zoom, and LED flash) don’t produce stunning photos: The images we captured exhibited considerable noise and color distortion, as is common with tablet cams. We did appreciate its camera options, including Honeycomb’s standard Movie Studio video-editing app, and the 720p camcorder mode’s time-lapse options (although you must place the tablet on a stand to make proper use of it). Connect the tablet to an HDTV or video projector using its Micro HDMI port, and you can play movies and slideshows on the big screen.

Acer is stingy with memory, equipping the Iconia A100 with just 8GB of storage, so we were happy to see that it has a microSD slot capable of supporting memory cards with up to 32GB of capacity. You can also shuttle files to and from a PC via the Micro USB port or by using Acer Sync, a PC app for managing contacts, calendars, photos, and videos. Acer’s Media Server can stream media to any UPnP device on your network.

One thing the Iconia A100’s Micro USB port cannot do is charge the tablet’s battery such as Acer Aspire 1300 Battery, Acer BTP-APJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-AQJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-ARJ1 Battery, Acer BATCL32 battery, Acer BATCL32L battery, Acer Aspire 2000 battery, Acer Aspire 2016 battery, Acer Aspire 2200 battery, Acer BATBL50L6 battery; you must use the provided AC adapter for this. This limitation considerably hampers its portability, and Acer has informed us its next 7-inch tablet won’t have this problem. Charging the tablet from 0 to 100 percent takes only about two hours, but the fairly skimpy 1530mAh battery is smaller than what you’ll find in many smartphones. As such, an evening Netflix binge at full brightness consumed a full battery charge in about four hours.

Supreme portability and superior e-book-reading and thumb-typing experiences render the 7-inch form factor a viable proposition. While whiz-bang features and a low price ($200) will steer some toward the Kindle Fire, that upstart relies on a severely limited and customized flavor of Android. The Iconia A100 doesn’t have the hottest looks or tip-toppiest features, but it’s less expensive than most.

Acer to Streamline Notebook Lines in 2012

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

In an effort to boost brand power and focus strategy, computer makers Acer and Asus are reportedly planning to streamline their respective families of notebooks and netbooks in 2012. The Digitimes report said contracts with OEMs showed the companies are planning on consolidating the number of computer models they offer (Asus has around 50 notebook designs), such as the Asus Eee PC line, which will be cut down to five models from 10 models.

The strategy is a similar one to that of Apple, which offers only a few versions of their notebooks and has developed a brand that is known the world over. Asus plans to offer high-performance notebooks for gamers in 2012, along with ultrabooks--thin and lightweight ultraportable laptops, defined by a specification from Intel.

Acer debuted its first ultrabook in September, the Aspire A3, which features the latest second generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 processors for full computing and digital creation capability, and a choice of 240GB SSD or 320/500 GB HDD with embedded SSD, measures 1.3 cm thin and weighs less than 3 pounds.

Asus launched an ultrabook of its own in October, called the Zenbook, sporting SATA Revision 3.0 solid SSD (state storage), Bluetooth V4.0 and USB 3.0, along with custom cooling technology using a V-shaped channel with a copper fin design for improved airflow and cooling. The notebook also utilizes Asus’ patented Super Hybrid Engine II technology, which conserves battery like Acer BTP-73E1 Battery, Acer BATCL50L Battery, Acer TravelMate 290 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4000 Battery, Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery, Acer Aspire 1410 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4500 Battery, Acer LCBTP03003 Battery life and allows the Zenbook to have up to 25 more battery life than other ultrabook designs.

System makers are taking a conservative approach to ultrabooks for several reasons, including their experience several years ago with Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) thin notebooks, which never took hold in the market, and continued difficulties bringing the price of ultrabooks under $1,000, a key point noted by Intel executives when they introduced the idea. In addition, some OEMs may be waiting until the 2012 release of Intel’s “Ivy Bridge” chips—which essentially will be smaller versions of the current “Sandy Bridge” processors—to really embrace the form factor.

Intel executives envision ultrabooks as combining the performance and reliability of traditional notebooks with features found in tablets, including instant-on and, eventually, touch capabilities. They said the ultra-thin, ultra-light laptops should be no more than 0.8 inches thick, run on x86-based chips and cost less than $1,000. Intel officials said they expect ultrabooks to account for 40 percent of all notebooks sold by the end of 2012.

Acer TravelMate 8481G

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

Acer’s TravelMate 8481g came in a little over-size for our 2011 ultraportable laptop roundup, with its 14-inch display. However, I let it slip through as its weight (1.5kg) matches many of the 11.6-inch models on test, and despite the screen size its volume is actually less than that of the 11.6-inch Sony VAIO Y, MSI U270, and HP Pavilion dm1. Why? Because at just 22mm, the TravelMate is the thinnest non-Apple product in the roundup.

In fact, the TravelMate is rather close to our 11.6-inch MacBook Air in spec. It runs on the same Intel Core i5 2467M processor, includes 4GB RAM, and uses a 120GB SSD for storage (vs. the MacBook Air’s 128GB). The main point of difference is in the graphics: though the 2467M processor offers the Intel HD Graphics 3000 engine on-chip, Acer has also thrown in the Nvidia GeForce GT 520M with 1GB of dedicated video memory.

The addition of discrete graphics gives the TravelMate DirectX 11 support, which the Air and other Intel HD Graphics-based systems lack. It also provides the best graphical performance in this roundup, with up to 300% higher scores (100% higher in most tests). At the ‘extreme’ settings we use for our GPU benchmarks (the same we use to test top-end gaming rigs), frame-rates didn’t really enter the ‘playable’ realm, but you could certainly run many modern games at conservative settings with no issues at all.

As mentioned in our Air review, the TravelMate’s use of discrete graphics has one interesting side-effect: it disables the video transcoding features of Intel’s Sandy Bridge platform, biasing our all-around PCMark 7 test heavily toward the MacBook Air. In all other areas, the two perform near-identically. This may mean that the Acer is less than ideal if you intend to do large amounts of video editing, or conversion for smartphone or tablet viewing. Apart from that, the TravelMate’s DX11 support and higher graphical performance more than make up for it.

The Acer has the second-worst battery such as Acer BTP-43D1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 220 Battery, Acer BTP-58A1 Battery, acer BTP-60A1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 240 Battery, Acer BTP-52EW Battery, Acer BTP-63D1 Battery, Acer BTP-42C1 Battery, acer BTP-44A3 Battery, Acer BTP-550P Battery life in the roundup of just 2 hours 57 minutes (vs. 2 hours 17 for the MacBook Air running Windows 7 with the same workload). Unusually given its slim design, the slim battery is user-removable – there’s nothing (but cost) to stop you carrying a spare or two.

Acer’s TravelMate 8481g shows that you don’t have to sacrifice screen size, processing power, graphical capabilities or even the convenience of a removable battery to get something extremely lightweight and compact. If portability is your one major goal, or you need video editing performance more than GPU-power, the MacBook Air is still your best bet. Otherwise, the TravelMate is an extremely attractive option.

Acer Travelmate 3000

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: batterystores#ca

With a footprint smaller than the full-size edition of PCW and weighing just 1.45kg, the Acer Travelmate 3000 is designed with portability in mind.

Despite the compact size, there's a 12.1in widescreen display along with a reasonably-sized keyboard. You'll notice some flexibility to the keyboard when typing, but it's the cramped touchpad that's the biggest let-down, making it tricky to move the cursor around the screen quickly.

There are various versions of the Travelmate 3000 series; this being the 3004WTMi model. Its core components are impressive, with a 2GHz Intel Pentium M processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory and a 100GB hard disk.

It took just one hour and 40 minutes to drain the battery in our tests, but you may well get more than two hours using power saving settings. A second smaller battery like Acer UM08B73 battery, Acer UM08B71 battery, Acer UM08A31 battery, Acer Aspire One Battery, Acer UM08A73 battery, Acer BTP-43D1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 220 Battery, Acer BTP-58A1 Battery, acer BTP-60A1 Battery is supplied that runs for just over an hour, but you can't hot-swap the two.

An external dual-layer DVD writer compensates for the lack of a built-in optical disc drive and connects to the notebook's single Firewire port. Wireless options come in the form of infrared, Bluetooth and 802.11b/g,and the four-in-one memory card reader is a useful inclusion.

The Travelmate's price tag and small size make it seem like the ideal travelling companion, but we expected to see longer battery life. Acer tries to combat this by including two batteries, but it's not an ideal solution.

Acer Aspire 5101 AWLMi

Welcome to a laptop battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: batterystores#ca

Its battery life could be improved a little, but Acer’s Aspire 5101 AWLMi is a neatly designed laptop that provides respectable performance and a decent set of features. And, at £469, it even manages to come in a little under our £500 price limit.

First impressions were good – the Aspire 5101 is a solidly built machine, and its attractive silvery-grey design and black trim certainly doesn’t betray its low cost. The 15.4in widescreen display is bright and clear and will work well with DVDs, as well as ordinary business applications.

Like many laptops at the moment the screen has a rather glossy, reflective coating, which is good for DVD playback but can be a bit distracting at times. Some people might prefer the standard matte finish of the screen on the Toshiba Satellite, although that’s really just a personal preference.

This is the only laptop in this group to include the Media Center Edition of Windows XP, so it’s a good choice if you’re looking for a laptop that will be part of your entertainment system at home, or to keep you amused while you’re on the road. It doesn’t come with a TV tuner, though.

We were also pleased with the built-in webcam that sits on the top edge of the screen – a handy feature for anyone who wants to try out video-chat using Skype, for example. It’s certainly good value for a machine in this price range.

There are a few oddly labelled buttons on the top row of the keyboard, along with an unusual silver button sitting right between the two buttons on the trackpad. The buttons on the keyboard are programmable so that you can use them to launch your own choice of programs, while the silver button on the trackpad is a four-way scrolling device. These are useful little extras, although they’re not clearly explained by Acer’s slim manual, so it may take you a little while to figure out how they all work.

The rest of the machine’s design is fairly straightforward. It’s based on an AMD Turion processor running at 2GHz, which provides solid and consistent performance in most of our benchmark tests. As a result, the Aspire should be more than adequate for handling office software, as well as a bit of multimedia work, such as digital photography or video editing.

The 512MB of Ram is about the minimum you’ll need for multimedia work (or to upgrade to Windows Vista), but the 120GB hard disk provides plenty of room for storing mp3 music or digital video clips. There’s no Firewire port for connecting a DV camcorder, so home video buffs will have to budget for a Firewire upgrade if they plan on doing any video-editing work.

We would also like to have seen slightly better performance from the Aspire’s battery such as Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery, Acer Aspire 1410 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4500 Battery, Acer LCBTP03003 Battery, Acer Aspire 1300 Battery, Acer Extensa 4620 Battery, Acer BTP-APJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-AQJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-ARJ1 Battery. The one hour, 45 minutes battery life in our Mobilemark productivity test isn’t too bad – although it still pales beside the three hours plus of the Toshiba Satellite Pro – but the one hour, 27 minutes of DVD playback time will barely be enough to watch a movie. It’s not going to be much of a games machine, either, as its 3D performance – like that of all these low-cost laptops – is extremely limited.

The limited battery life means that the Aspire 5101 isn’t the best choice for watching DVDs while on the move, but apart from that it’s a well-designed laptop with some good features for the price.

Brand wars in gadget land

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.laptops-battery-online.com

Which laptop should I buy? What phone will be the most user-friendly? Which music device will make me look cool? In seeking answers to such questions, The Express Tribune conducted a survey to uncover the tech-rating and prevailing perception of brands in the local market. A total of 12 popular brands were identified and ranked by young students and professionals representing the urban, upwardly mobile, middle class/upper-middle class bracket of society.

Macbook

Overall rating: 9/10

Summary: Everyone wants a Macbook. Adored by its owners and the laptop everyone aspires to, the Macbook series is the clear king of the technological jungle. Aside from expected cost woes, Macs score high on ease-of-use, excellent for working with multimedia and are just plain ‘cool’.

Top of mind: Just, plain, awesome!

HP

Overall rating: 8/10

Summary: A big thumbs up on design excellence by all its owners makes HP a hot brand to buy locally. HP also scored high on durability and versatility, being one of the few brands cited for gaming purposes by multiple owners. As indicated by laptopadvisor.com, HP will most likely have a laptop for every kind of user out there, breaking away from the perception of them being ‘just a printer manufacturer’.

Top of mind: It’s hot, and it’s not a printer

Toshiba

Overall rating: 8/10

Summary: Toshiba scores high on durability and brand loyalty. Owners of Toshiba laptops indicated they would not switch brands, despite the occasional trouble with overheating on different models. As indicated by laptopadvisor.com Toshiba laptops are ‘not the sexiest computers out there’ but they seem to work for those who put reliability first.

Top of mind: It’s a safe bet

Compaq

Overall rating: 6.5/10

Summary: Compaq has few defining features for its owners, the majority of whom would prefer to switch to a different laptop given the choice. While aesthetically pleasing and affordable, Compaq scored low for unspecified reasons (aside from complaints of overheating).

Top of mind: Lack lustre

Dell

Overall rating: 7.5/10

Summary: Not much to complain about if you own a Dell. A good brand and a good buy according to owners, Dell laptops scored well on being user-friendly, durable and worth the money. Much like Toshiba, very few Dell owners would be willing to part ways with their laptops, with brand loyalty to a well-established company factoring in.

Top of mind: Sure, why not

Acer

Overall rating: 5.5/10

Summary: Aside from scoring ultra-high for being cheap and easy to carry around, Acer laptops fail to impress, with owners complaining of bad configurations (slow, hanging) and failing batteries such as Acer BTP-ARJ1 battery, Acer BTP-AS3620 battery, Acer BTP-ASJ1 battery, Acer BTP-B2J1 battery, Acer LC.BTP01.003 battery, Acer LCBTP03003 battery, Acer MS2111 battery, Acer MS2180 battery, Acer QC145 battery, Acer SQ-1100 battery, Acer SQ-2100 battery, Acer SQU-202 battery across models. A majority of owners also indicated they would opt out of their Acer laptops given the choice (or the budget) to do so. Acer is definitely a value-deal option, or a good choice for the novice first user.

Top of mind: The poor man’s laptop

New Acer as07b72 battery needs charging and discharging cycle first before the regular usage. Because battery from factory to the users' hands that exists the time differences, and the electrode materials will be its passivation for the battery of the longer time difference, which is why the purchase of new batteries need to be completely filled with charging and discharging cycle three times to eliminate electrode materials passivation, to activate laptop battery performance, to reach maximum capacity. Meanwhile, the laptop has the data transmission agreement end between battery and the computer, after the need of two or three times charged and discharged cycle, the percent of its real capacity can keep pace with the percent of content on the computer's screen. Cycle's steps: insert into computer to discharge until the shutdown, and then recharge the Acer as07b72 battery, charging time must be over 12 hours, to repeat the action of charging and discharging for three times.

When using the battery for Acer as07b72, fever is a normal phenomenon, because in the process of the Acer as07b72 battery pack charged and discharged, energy conversion will result in heat and at the same time the amount of heat will be transmitted to the battery such as Acer BTP-73E1 Battery, Acer BATCL50L Battery, Acer TravelMate 290 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4000 Battery, Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery, Acer Aspire 1410 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4500 Battery, Acer LCBTP03003 Battery, Acer Aspire 1300 Battery. But if overheated (burning), stop using it immediately and ask for the professinonals to check. When you use the new as07b72 lithium ion laptop batteries at the first time, you should carry on to refresh and discharge completely 3 times. Namely the as07b72 laptop battery must be charged and discharged completely for three times, put electricity quantity to the utmost again. Not to use the Acer as07b72 battery until you repeat three times.

1. Make sure the chemistry material in the computer battery being activated and the internal electricity chemical reaction of the laptop battery enter the best appearance.

5.You don't charge your battery until the energy in your battery is exhaustion. The charge and turn on electricity of the part may cause each chemistry function inside battery as a result the Acer as07b72 battery function will back to decline.

6.Lastly I advise you turn on electricity depth every several months for optimize your Acer as07b72 battery.# This acer As07b72 Battery is a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack for Acer Notebook.

Acer Aspire One D255 Review

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

If you're looking to buy a netbook, chances are good that price is your number-one purchasing factor. If so, you'll perk up at the latest revision of Acer's Aspire One netbook, the D255, which starts at a rock-bottom $249 with a three-cell battery. (We tested an upgraded version with a six-cell battery, at $349.) With the D255, Acer rolls out an eye-pleasing, light netbook for those unconcerned with squeezing out the last drop of performance. It's an enticing product for anyone watching their pennies, while delivering a—very—slight performance edge among low-end netbooks. We thought that the addition of a dual-core processor would give it enough oomph to distinguish it from its single-core competition in the bargain basement, but the difference wasn't all that great in our tests.

Let's start with the positives. At 2.8 pounds and with a 10.1-inch screen, this netbook is a very compact package you won't mind carrying around. We loved being able to throw it in a bag, barely feeling the weight on our shoulder. It comes in four colors: black, silver, red, and blue. We tested the blue, which is attractive but not flashy, a middle-ground color for either work or play.

The keyboard is 93 percent of full size. That sounds like it should be good enough for regular typing, but it's just cramped enough to be difficult. Those with small hands may appreciate it, but it's definitely a chore for larger ones. Don't expect to type as quickly as you normally do. The touch-pad area is barely defined; it blends in with the wrist rest, which gives the Aspire a clean, open look. The pad supports multi-touch gestures for scroll, pinch, rotate, and flip, which was an unexpected convenience. (We loved being able to scroll with two fingers.) A single, raised button bar sits below the touch pad for mouse clicks. Overall, we liked the feel of the button, though we usually prefer two smaller buttons instead of one big one.

The Aspire One D255’s 10.1-inch, LED-backlit screen is one of its best features. We were always impressed by how clear, sharp, and bright this 1,024x600 screen was, regardless of what it was displaying. Above the screen, embedded in the bezel, is a built-in Webcam. It's capable of 1,280x1,024 resolution with the included Acer Crystal Eye software, but it doesn't perform well in low light, and the colors it returns are dull. One thing to note: While it seems odd to have a Webcam with a higher resolution than the screen itself, remember that the image is being sent at the Webcam's resolution, not the screen's. If the person you are video-chatting with has a higher-res screen, they’ll benefit from this Webcam.

The left side includes the power port, a VGA port, and two USB ports. The right offers an Ethernet port, a Kensington cable-lock slot, another USB port, microphone and headphone jacks, and a two-format memory-card slot (supporting the SD and MultiMediaCard formats). There are no controls on the front or back. Even this netbook's battery seems compact: It gives the rear of the Aspire just a bit of a bump to elevate it to a comfortable typing angle.

Considering that it's a $250 to $350 netbook, the Aspire One D255 is a surprisingly peppy machine, though its Intel Atom N550 dual-core CPU might lead you to expect more of a speed edge over competing single-core netbooks than it actually delivers. On our PCMark Vantage benchmark test, which measures overall system performance, the Aspire One D255 earned a score of 1,433. The average among all netbooks we've tested is 1,651, so this netbook is below average by this measure. Still, bear in mind that most netbooks, especially the lower-priced ones, can't complete this test at all. The fact that the Aspire One D255 could is a good sign. And it did beat at least one much-pricier model, the $499 Asus Eee PC 1201pn.

We run two media-file conversion tests to rate the CPU's performance. On our iTunes encoding test, which involves converting 11 standard music tracks from MP3 to AAC format, the Aspire One D255 took 19 minutes and 33 seconds. That's a hair above the netbook average (19:02). In comparison, the Gateway LT2120u, which has the same list price, took 26:30, while the HP Mini 100e, which goes for $299, took 19:22. On our Windows Media Encoder (WME) test, which involves converting a sample video file between formats, the Aspire took 18 minutes and 16 seconds to finish our test task. This was actually a pretty good time, with the Gateway netbook taking 26:30 and the HP Mini 100e taking 25:51. In fact, only three other netbooks we reviewed this year beat this score: the $683 HP Mini 5103 (18:04, using the same dual-core Atom N550 processor), the $499 Asus Eee PC 1215N (15:38), and the $469 Gateway LT3201u (17:56). Here, the dual-core processor showed its worth. (This was not surprising, seeing as the WME test, unlike our iTunes test, takes advantage of multiple cores.) Likewise, on our Cinebench 10 benchmark test, which is a measure of CPU performance that taxes all available cores of the CPU, the Aspire delivered a score of 1,386. That's strong, as the category average is just 863.

The same asset helped the Aspire One D255 do well on our multitasking test. This test involves converting our same test video in WME while running a demanding virus scan using Windows Defender. The Aspire One finished this task in a time of 22:20, which was much faster than the Gateway LT2120u's time of 31:33 and the category average of 32:45.

The integrated Intel graphics processor used in this machine, the GMA 3150, produced merely average graphics scores for a netbook (which is to say, weak ones in a big-picture sense). On our 3DMark06 benchmark test, the Aspire One pumped out a score of 152 at its native resolution (1,024x600). That compares closely with the Gateway LT2120u's 155 or the HP Mini 100e's 158. (We couldn't run the test at 1,024x768, as we normally do, because the Aspire One doesn't support that resolution.) Either way, what these numbers tell us: Don't expect to use this machine for major gaming, by any stretch.

As noted earlier on, you can get this Aspire One model with a three-cell or a six-cell battery like Acer BTP-73E1 Battery, Acer BATCL50L Battery, Acer TravelMate 290 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4000 Battery, Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery, Acer Aspire 1410 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4500 Battery, Acer LCBTP03003 Battery, rated for four or eight hours of runtime, respectively. We tested the six-cell version. Perhaps the battery could have gotten something approaching eight hours under normal use, but our battery-rundown test is a more extreme challenge, forcing the tested computer to stream full-screen video via its Wi-Fi connection until it drops. This is a worst-case battery scenario, and the Aspire One lasted for 3 hours and 51 minutes under this trial. That’s just a little under the category average of 4:07. By comparison, the Gateway LT2120u endured for an exceptional 5:24.

Loaded onto the 250GB hard drive is Windows 7 Starter Edition, and you won't be surprised that the included software is on the basic side. When we first powered the netbook on and saw desktop icons for Netflix and the New York Times Reader, we thought there might be an effort here to deliver popular content to buyers. But those were actually just sponsored ads. (Netflix was a link, and the Times Reader is a free download.) As for actual software, you get Microsoft Office Starter 2010 (a full, free version that’s funded via ads). It includes Microsoft Word and Excel, which is plenty good for many users. You'll also get a few Acer utilities, such as Acer eRecovery Management and Acer ePower Management. Other apps include eSobi (a multi-pane news reader that doesn’t work well on a small screen), Windows Live Essentials, Skype, and a trial of McAfee Internet Security Suite 2009.

The Acer Aspire One D255 might be a good choice for frequent fliers, as it comes with the company's one-year international traveler's limited warranty. That means you can get service in any country in which Acer has a repair facility. (You can find more on the warranty on Acer's site.) The company also offers a two-year extended warranty for $99, or a three-year total protection bundle for $199.

For bargain shoppers, the $349 version of the Aspire One D255 is a decent buy. You'll get the low price and high portability you crave, while getting a small boost from the dual-core processor. You also get a bright screen, which we thoroughly appreciated. We wouldn't try to do any highly demanding work on this—or any—netbook, but battery life aside, this machine, along with the Gateway LT3201u, is one of the top-performing netbooks available south of $500.

Acer looks to capitalise on recession

Taiwanese firm Acer is focusing on introducing breakthrough technologies even in tough market conditions in a bid to become the world's top notebook vendor by 2011, a top company official said.

"When [the] rest of the computer manufacturers are cutting costs due to recession, Acer is the only company introducing new technologies at the right time, and investing heavily in product development to make use of the recession and grab maximum market share," Krishna Murthy, managing director, Middle East and Africa (MEA), said after launching the new Aspire Timeline notebook.

He said the industry outlook is flat, but the notebook market will experience double-digit growth fuelled by strong demand for netbooks, while the desktop market will suffer 15-20 per cent negative growth.

Placed in second position after HP in the first quarter of 2009, the company expects 10 per cent growth in unit terms and to grab 16-17 per cent of the MEA market with its multi-branding strategy.

"The launch of the new Acer Aspire Timeline series marks the beginning of a new era in mobile computing. In fact, Acer based the new notebooks on a simple yet revolutionary idea: instead of making laptops with bulkier and heavier batteries such as Acer Aspire 1300 Battery, Acer BTP-APJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-AQJ1 Battery, Acer BTP-ARJ1 Battery, Acer BATCL32 battery, Acer BATCL32L battery, Acer Aspire 2000 battery, Acer Aspire 2016 battery, Acer Aspire 2200 battery, Acer BATBL50L6 battery ..., we made a series of notebooks which are more efficient, and capable [of] reducing energy consumption and boosting battery life by up to 40 per cent," Murthy said.

Mobile communications: Smart phones

Acer, which entered the mobile communications market with the acquisition of E-Ten last year, expects to launch smart phones in 2009.

"The smart phone market is growing rapidly despite being highly competitive. Acer's strategy is to identify the growing market and segment, and be there at the right time," Krishna Murthy, managing director of Acer Middle East and Africa, said. It will launch a collection of touch-screen smart phones. Some models are already launched in Europe and Asian markets.

"We are getting sample pieces now and meeting channel partners ," Murthy said.

Acer ships updated Aspire One

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist

About a week ahead of schedule, Acer has started US shipments of its second generation Aspire One netbook, a Windows XP-only device with a larger 10.1-inch screen.

Despite the bigger screen size of the new Aspire One AOD150, Acer's latest netbook doesn't offer an appreciably roomier keyboard, according to some who have tried out the new PC, which first shipped in the UK on January 23.

On the other hand, some units will reportedly be outfitted with a new, much more capable battery 5800mAH battery from Acer -- instead of the standard 4400mAH battery such as Acer BTP-73E1 Battery, Acer BATCL50L Battery, Acer TravelMate 290 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4000 Battery, Acer TravelMate 2300 Battery, Acer Aspire 1680 Battery, Acer Aspire 1410 Battery, Acer TravelMate 4500 Battery, Acer LCBTP03003 Battery, Acer Aspire 1300 Battery-- simply because Acer was in a hurry to get the new netbooks out the door.

Other specs of the Aspire One AOD150 include a 160 GB hard drive, single SDHC Card slot, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, and 1 GB of RAM.

But unlike the original 8.9-inch Aspire, which came preloaded with a choice of Windows XP Home or Linpus Linux Lite, the AOD150 is available with Windows XP only.

Similarly, Asustek, another up-and-comer with its netbooks, decided some time ago to emphasize Windows over Linux -- in the US market, anyway.

"Linux is going well for us, especially in Europe," said Josh Norem, senior technical marketing specialist at Asustek, in an interview with Betanews late last fall. "But now we're focusing on Windows XP, because a lot of people find it easier to use."

Acer and Asustek both seem to be doing a lot of things right in the US space, if data released today by IDC is a good indication. Under very tough economic conditions, both companies grew their shares in the US notebook/netbook market during the fourth quarter of 2008. Acer's portable PC shipments in the US amounted to more than four million, showing a 57% increase over the same quarter the year before.

For its part, relative newcomer Asustek shipped about 300,000 portables in the US during the quarter, landing in eighth place with a 3% market share. At the same time, US industry leader Dell slipped 8% to 8.88 million units, followed very closely in the rankings by Hewlett-Packard, with 8.77 million units.

But is there hope for Linux on netbooks yet? HP last week rolled an Ubuntu Linux-based custom GUI for its own Mini 1000 Mi Edition netbook, with a new UI that is reportedly better geared to ease of use than most Linux offerings for netbooks.

Acer TravelMate a compelling alternative laptop

Welcome to a Laptop Battery specialist
of the Acer Laptop Battery   First post by: www.itsbattery.com

We recently declared that the HP Compaq 6910p might woo corporate users away from Dell and Lenovo; after spending some time with the $1,049 Acer TravelMate 4720, we think it's a prime candidate to woo users away from HP.

The well-designed Acer exhibited admirable performance (which admittedly could be improved by adding RAM) and chart-topping battery life on our benchmarks, and its feature set includes nearly everything a business user will need.

What it lacks: enterprise-level features such as a Trusted Platform Module or built-in WWAN, both of which are available on the HP Compaq 6910p and the Dell Latitude D630. Also, the TravelMate 4720's one-year warranty and limited phone support hours will fall short of many corporate users' expectations. However, those shortcomings may be forgiven by small-business buyers and others who want a serious laptop at a low price.

With its latest TravelMate laptops, Acer has traded a silver lid for a dark gray that resembles the color of HP's business systems, including the Compaq 6910p.

Unlike the HP, though, the TravelMate incorporates rounded edges to keep it from looking too square. Its large nine-cell battery such as Acer BTP-43D1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 220 Battery, Acer BTP-58A1 Battery, acer BTP-60A1 Battery, Acer TravelMate 240 Battery, Acer BTP-52EW Battery, Acer BTP-63D1 Battery, Acer BTP-42C1 Battery, acer BTP-44A3 Battery, Acer BTP-550P Battery gives the laptop added gravitas, but at 5.8 pounds it's still reasonable to shuttle it from home to office on a regular basis--and it definitely feels sturdy enough to travel beyond the relative safety of your cubicle.

The 14.1-inch display on the TravelMate 4720 features a matte screen finish that's easy on the eyes when working on documents and spreadsheets. Its sharp 1,280x800 native resolution makes for attractive images and video without rendering text and icons impossibly small.

It doesn't get quite as bright as other displays we've seen (its maximum brightness in our Labs measured 171 cd/m2), which can cause it to look dim in bright environments; for us this was only problematic when we tried to work next to a sun-filled window. Also worth noting: The wide display bezel lacks the built-in Webcam that's often found on business thin-and-lights.

We mostly like the design of the TravelMate 4720. We found the wide keyboard and quiet keys comfortable enough for a lengthy stretch of typing. In particular, we appreciated the keyboard's slight ergonomic curve. (Acer is the only manufacturer we've seen that incorporates ergonomics into its laptop keyboards.)

At times the 1.5-inch-tall touch pad feels cramped, and the mouse buttons are too small, crowded in around a fingerprint reader; the placement would be acceptable if the fingerprint reader doubled as a scroll key, but it does not. Above the keyboard, a narrow metallic trim frames three tiny quick-launch buttons that can be configured to start specific programs.

Above these sit four more buttons, this time in black, to launch backup and chat programs, a system password utility, and the Acer eManager utility for manipulating system settings and power management. On the laptop's front edge sit two handy slider switches to control the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi radios.

The TravelMate 4720's case includes all the ports and connections you'd expect on a thin-and-light, with the exception of an ExpressCard slot; it features only a slot for older (but still ubiquitous) PC Cards.

The laptop's four USB ports are scattered around three sides of the base, which makes it easier to plug in lots of peripherals without getting cords tangled. You won't be able to rock out with the built-in speakers, which produce somewhat tinny sound; fortunately there's a dedicated line-out jack that lets you connect the TravelMate 4720 to external speakers.

At $1,049, the Acer TravelMate 4720 costs nearly $900 less than the similarly configured Dell Latitude D630 and $800 less than a similar HP Compaq 6910p. Like the Latitude D630, the TravelMate 4720 runs Windows XP. For the most part, the Acer kept pace with the Dell and the HP on CNET Labs' application benchmarks, even finishing slightly ahead of both other systems on our multitasking test.

The key difference came out during our Photoshop benchmark; the Acer dropped behind the more expensive laptops, which include twice as much RAM.

The TravelMate 4720 can accommodate up to 4GB of RAM, so you might want to upgrade to at least 2GB if you frequently use Photoshop or other resource-intensive programs; even with a RAM upgrade the TravelMate 4720 is still likely to cost less than its competitors. With just the baseline quantity of RAM, however, we were able to simultaneously surf the Web, work on documents, and stream music without any stuttering--as we'd expect from any laptop based on the latest components.

The TravelMate 4720's battery lasted 4 hours, 41 minutes on our taxing DVD drain test, effectively matching the record-setting life of the Dell Latitude D630. Part of this is because of the TravelMate 4720's nine-cell battery (the only size available for this model), which is larger than you'd typically find on a laptop of this size. Though the bulkier battery adds to the laptop's weight and depth, we think it's a worthwhile tradeoff, especially if your work involves a lot of time on planes and other locations away from a power outlet.

Acer backs the TravelMate 4720 with a one-year parts and labor warranty. Telephone support is toll-free, and runs Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST. On Acer's support Web site, users will find an e-mail form, some basic FAQs, and driver downloads.
