Toshiba Announces Upgraded Satellite M55 Series

Toshiba’s Digital Products Division, a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. and provider of industry-leading portable computers, projectors and other mobile-related services and products celebrating Toshiba’s 20th anniversary of the first mass-marketed laptop computer, today announced an upgraded Satellite(R) M55 line for the holiday season, an affordable, lightweight 14-inch diagonal widescreen notebook PC.

Starting at 4.99 pounds(b) and designed for consumers who want on-the-go productivity as well as multimedia performance, the Satellite M55 series notebook features include:

– a 14-inch WXGA diagonal display with TruBrite(TM) technology;

– a DVD SuperMulti Double Layer drive that reads and writes in

up to 11 formats that can nearly double a recordable DVD’s

storage capacity in either DVD+R or DVD-R double layer

formats;

– 5400 rpm hard drive(c) for faster access to stored files;

– 512MB memory(d);

– and SRS TruSurround XT(TM) technology for a rich, virtual

surround sound experience.

The new Satellite M55 series models feature a Mist Gray chassis at retail and additional choices of Peacock Blue and Sunlight Copper from ToshibaDirect.

Priced under $1,000(a), the Satellite M55-S139 value model now includes Toshiba Express Media Player for instant access to CD and DVD playback without booting up the Windows operating system. The unit also features an upgraded Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor(e) 380, 80GB hard drive(c) and integrated Atheros(R) 802.11b/g wireless(f).

Priced at $1,449(a), the Satellite M55-S329 premium model features Intel Centrino(TM) Mobile Technology for optimum wireless connectivity with a more powerful Intel Pentium(R) M processor(e) 750. The system also features a 100GB hard drive(c), iLINK(TM) IEEE 1394 port, 5-in-1 bridge media adapter such as Toshiba Satellite X200 Ac Adapter, Toshiba G15 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Equium A60 Ac Adapter, Toshiba PA3165U-1ACA Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite 1600 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite 200 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite A100 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Tecra L2 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite M20 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite M65 Ac Adapter, Toshiba terca 8000 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Satellite 1900 Ac Adapter, Toshiba Express Media Player for one-touch CD/DVD playback, and built-in harman/kardon(R) stereo speakers. The Satellite M55 series is available with a standard one-year limited warranty. The standard limited warranty includes carry-in support at Authorized Service Providers throughout the country, or the customer may utilize any of the more than 3,000 UPS Stores for packaging and delivery of the product to a centralized depot for prompt service turnaround. Customers can also choose to upgrade the notebook’s service plans, including up to four years of extended service plans.

Toshiba offers Ask Iris(R) Online, an instant response information service that can alert users to security software patches or provide other information regarding their product from Toshiba engineers and technical support staff.
